We're looking at Eurocamp as well.  Depending on the parc they can cater for toddlers, older children or more adult places although they seem to have swimming pools, water parks/slides, restaurants so it's really more of a holiday destination type place.  They do have tents at most or mobile homes or chalets.  From the brochure it sounds like some are near forests and national parks in Europe and also many are near beaches and also villages/towns.

I'm not sure if there's the equivalent to US National Park in Europe, there probably are in some countries.  I understand that parts of Romania are very rural and beautiful - in fact I think Transylvania region is like that but only from what I've seen on TV documentaries and the like.

I think Coppertone makes 50SPF vampire spray with aloe.  :)

I'm not much of a camper, so I can't really speak to that part of it, but I did teach English in Transylvania for a year, and can vouch that it is indeed beautiful!  The Carpathian Mountains cut through a large area of it, so if you're into hiking, or (like me) talking about hiking while driving through the mountains, it's definitely worth it.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to post that it seems Scotland has changed it's land use laws more in line with the Nordic countries to where everyone has the right to access the outdoors so long as you're respectful of your surroundings.

This means wild camping is legal in Scotland now.  So go have at it!

Here is the info about the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
