Do UK men cry.
« on: March 11, 2009, 02:06:53 AM »
We ran this about a year ago.
I just had about 10 teenage girls and two adults come to the door with a couple of flags. They are going around and honoring veterans that they know by visiting them. I told them briefly about my experience in the military and they thanked me and gave me a cup cake and then they asked if they could sing a song to me. They then proceeded to sing "My Country Tis of Thee" and I broke down but I was able to compose myself. How embarrassing.

I think everyone cries at some time or another. Regardless of gender or nationality.

I daresay, but I cannot imagine the above scenario happening in Britain.

I am not going to make any sweeping generalisations about UK men, but your story made me a bit weepy.

I have seen and spoken to many ex-servicemen who are Brits that have a good cry when the recall events.  In the same breath I have known many non servicement guys getting teary out of frustration and or life events.  It happens....Everyone needs a good boo once in a while.  It clears the soul  :)

Mine has. He's a sweet softie!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Mine got a bit teary when his brand new packet of baccy got blown into Loch Fyne by a gust of wind one time.

 ;D

I felt the same way when he hung a bottle of wine off the buggy handles and then the buggy hit the ground once he removed the child and the whole bottle smashed on the pavement.

It was distressing, but at least it wasn't an expensive bottle of whisky.

My DH is a real softie, as is his father.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

My fiance cries at the strangest things, never when I WANT him to!  I want him to cry when we are leaving eachother, like I do! But we were at a museum once and he teared up (I never seen him actually CRY) whilst watching a short film about the NASA Challenger disaster.   Go figure.

Mr. K. cried one time when a bottle of tequila he bought in Tiajuana fell out of the bag and broke.  Of course it happend as soon as we were back on the US side of the border, so we couldn't go back and get another one!   ;D

I feel similarly! When DH watches "The Professional" or almost *any* sappy chick flick (he secretly loves these lol) he will tear up. When we were in our LDR and weren't going to see each other for 6 months or more? Not so much. Although he says he would tear up on the train/after I left. I'm like a freaking water fountain!
