PB - my thoughts go out to your workplace
PL - good for checking it out anyway but glad you are feeling better

This was a basic IA but now a week later its worse then a basic IA...

I got a UTI (first one in over 1.5 years) they gave me keflex (sp) 3X a day for 3 days, I tried to explain I need strong medicine like Cipro and he said in the UK they cant prescribe that first..fair enough...Fast forward 2 days and I get a yeast infection all the darn antibiotics from bronchitis and this UTI...but I think it is more then that as my pelvis feels heavy and hurts..Today WHAM I can feel this UTI is back and stronger! So back to the doctor tomorrow and they never even got my urine results back from the last one.
I think they test should be quicker I mean 10 days?? to get a urine sample tested - seems WAY to long.
DH leaves to go back to work tomorrow too sooo it kinda sucks
I just needed a rant session as man this has really hampered this past week

Whenever I've had a UTI, the results are within minutes at the Dr's office! That sucks about them not prescribing something stronger. Why would they want to go through extra resources like that? Doesn't it cost the system more in the long run (extra meds, extra dr. visits, etc??) What is it with doctors who don't listen to the patient who would know her own body better than anyone?!

Yeah, it seems an awful silly waste of time--waiting 10 days, while the infection could be getting worse!  Have you gone to a health food store for some herbs?  I've gotten rid of a really bad UTI with herbs and loads of water--better than nothing while you're waiting the 10 days!

Thanks guys....
Saw yet a different doc today...Back on 3 more days of antibiotics (something different) this doc said he would hope to have results back quicker! As for the other fun stuff (pap smear cervical smear) I need to see the senior nurse so I go back on Wednesday! This is so crazy all I can do is laugh lol

andee - I had a year of UTI's and am the queen of preventing them...I have been putting back cranberry extracts and Azo pills and I drink LOADS of water...You cut back on sugar ect...

I dont feel as bad today just the pain part and I think wow you make me wait 2 days b/c a doc couldnt so the smear..weird.

I will drug up and cross my fingers all will be good!

I havea UTI as well.  Only my second one and it isn't as bad as the first, but my GP gave me something different than you got Jenn.  I will check it out when I go home.

I never had one in the states and considering I fought forest fires and couldn't shower for up to week I figured I was just lucky in that.  I know exactly what to blame.

SIGH!

I'm also going to join the UTI club.   :(

I finished my antibiotics yeseterday, and even though I told my doctor that I need Cipro, I was prescribed the usual (something weaker), and as I predicted, it still hurts today (even though I finished the antibiotics yesterday).  Boo.

I predict another doctor visit in my future.

Feel better Jenn and bookgrl!!!!

That's really strange... they did a urine test on me in minutes the last time I was at our surgery and said I didn't have an infection (they accidentally ran the UTI test instead of the test they meant to run, so she said, oops, at least you don't have a UTI - and that was while I was sitting there.) So sorry to hear about your troubles. I know those hurt and I often get problems from antibiotics, but you can get Diflucan over the counter here at your local chemist, which usually works for me.  :-\\\\ Hope you feel better soon!

There are 2 types of tests- a dipstick type thing, which roughly measures proteins and stuff in the urine (gives a general indication of infection) and a culture test, where they plate out the sample and identify the bacteria present. The latter is what takes ages.

That's an awful place to have an allergic reaction! Gah! Good thing your hubby went back to work after all ;)  I love those heat pads you stick to your panties. Seriously, whoever came up with those should get a Nobel prize in medicine and possibly peace.

I hope the rest of you feel better soon.

We were robbed tonight.  My husband is away for another 5 days.  2 laptops, Xbox, Wii and all games gone.  And most important, my mother's jewelry.  All gone.  The rest is replaceable, but the jewelry is not.  I am so, so sad and angry.  I hope these mofos rot somewhere warm someday.

I am okay.  My cats are okay.  I just keep repeating that to myself, but I am not sure I want to stay here anymore.  I mean the apartment.  I don't blame London.  We were robbed in Boston, too.

What a sh!tty, sh!tty night.
