Oh Ophinky, I'm so sorry to hear this.  Big hugs!

Thanks.  So much.  I'm staying here tonight, mainly because I'm more afraid to leave.  Of course, there's nothing worth stealing anymore...but still.

I'm just devastated.  I guess I should be grateful that they left my one ancient laptop so I've been able to change vital passwords quickly.

This place is ransacked.  Not much damage, but it's a disaster.

How absolutely awful, Ophinky. What have the police said?

They were very nice, but there's little hope of recovering anything.  The crime scene guy just left a few minutes ago and said he's got one useable print -- hopefully it's not mine, my husband's, or the porter who climbed in the window to let me in...

It's just so violating knowing that someone has pawed through and cherrypicked MY belongings.

 :(

So so sorry 0phinky!!!!!!    :\\\'( >:(

I was robbed last year, and it was a terrible experience.  I can totally relate to feeling utterly utterly violated!  As well as losing things you can't ever replace.  My computer had all pictures of when I met my husband in England for the first time, and while the computer was replaceable, obviously the pictures were not!

Luckily you were okay, as well as your cats!  That's the most important thing; thank goodness for that!!

Make sure you stay safe tonight, and hopefully you are able to move very soon.  When my landlord upgraded loads of security on my apartment, I still didn't feel totally safe until I moved out.  Hopefully, you'll find a much better place for you and your family!

*massive massive hugs*

We were robbed tonight.  My husband is away for another 5 days.  2 laptops, Xbox, Wii and all games gone.  And most important, my mother's jewelry.  All gone.  The rest is replaceable, but the jewelry is not.  I am so, so sad and angry.  I hope these mofos rot somewhere warm someday.

I am okay.  My cats are okay.  I just keep repeating that to myself, but I am not sure I want to stay here anymore.  I mean the apartment.  I don't blame London.  We were robbed in Boston, too.

What a sh!tty, sh!tty night.
Just saw this!  So so sorry Ophinky.  Big hugs.....

oh Ophinky, I just read this, what an absolute nightmare! I'm so sorry, it's so awful when someone has been in your home.

So glad you and your cats are okay.

So sorry, Ophinky! Glad to hear you and the kitties are OK, and I hope you feel more settled soon. I was robbed a few years ago and it definitely took me a few months to feel "normal" (I owned the house so I didn't really have a choice to move).

So sorry to hear of your troubles 0phinky...hopefully you have contents cover so you can have your replaceable items replaced and at least some compensation for those things that cannot be replaced.

Thank you all SO much.  I got a little bit of sleep, albeit with all of the lights on, and the police are coming back around in about an hour.  Both times this has happened, Boston and London, my main concern has been for my cats.  I'm just so relieved they were okay.  They're elderly and indoor-only and I was completely terrified they'd have wandered out the window left open or something worse.

In the daylight (and with sanity creeping back around the edges), I doubt we'll move.  It's a nice apartment in a nice neighborhood.  This stuff happens everywhere.  It's just so violating.

I just want the scaffolding on our building to come down.  I know it's just an open invitation the way it conceals visibility.  Bleurgh.

Thanks again.  It was a long rotten night, and it was nice to have some company.  I know I'll feel a lot better once my husband gets home on Sunday!

So sorry this happened to you, Ophinky. It happened to me once and like you, I was freaking out about my cats. I'm glad you're all okay.

Ophinky, that's horrible.  >:(  I'm sorry.  I'm always paranoid that we're going to get robbed when we go away.  I'm sure it's leftover from the time we were robbed in Atlanta, even though that time the break-in happened during the day when we were at the dentist.

I'm so sorry this happened to you (or to anybody)  >:( Some friends of mine were robbed about a year ago and the police did catch the guys and they even got some of their stuff back.
