CB texted to say she's on her way home, so I'm sure she will update everyone herself soon.  :-* to her.

Hello all, literally just got back in.

*waves*

Hi everyone, thanks for all the positive energy and best wishes.

Been quite a weird day, as very suddenly I lost the ability to speak clearly and close my eye on the left side, that entire side became just frozen up and my mouth dropped on that side.

Honestly, I thought I'd had a stroke or a reoccurrence of my tumour.  Suddenly not being able to close your eye or smile and having a droop was weirdly frightening.

I rushed over to hospital where I've had an MRI and an EKG and been diagnosed with Bell's Palsy.

I'm now on about 6 types of medication and hopefully it will clear up soon, I really hope that I'm able to speak without slurring soon as I'm quite difficult to understand.

Been tiring and stressful, but in fact all is fine and I feel a bit of a drama queen.

If my speech doesn't improve I'll just have to learn to speak with a new voice, but I'll cross that bridge if I get to it :)

For some reason I have known about three people with Bell's.  They all recovered, some faster than others, but remember to be kind to yourself.  It can be so frustrating.

Definitely has nothing to do with your tumor then... That's great news.

For the second time to day, I have to tell you that I admire your positive attitude. Let me know if you need anything! And also that you are the least dramatic person I know, certainly not a drama queen.

So relieved to hear that Bell's it is rather than something more serious. Rest up, take your meds and be good to yourself & you'll be right as rain in no time...hugs.

Glad to hear it was nothing more serious like a stroke CB!!  Whew!

My mom got Bell's Palsy about 3 months ago.  She also had very severe slurring at first, but now she's just about back to her normal self - speech, muscle control, and everything.  Little by little, you'll get there!  As others have said, be kind to yourself.   :)  *hugs*

Have you got a sick note for work?  Because it sounds like you really need to rest & take a break from the stress.  :-\\\\

Glad to hear it wasn't anything more serious, but I imagine it was still very frightening & annoying.

Wow CB, I'm glad you're OK. Bell's Palsy is scary though, especially with your history. I can't imagine your fright. Fingers crossed you get better quickly- and definitely get some rest and look after yourself!  :) :)

^ What she said. xx
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

So glad to hear you've been taken care of, CB! What everyone else said - take things easy and give yourself a bit of a break.
