Hugs, Jewlz. :(
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear all your bad news Jewlz.  :\\\'(  It's so hard to be far away from family when they are suffering - a terrible helpless feeling.  I can't believe that on top of that your husband has lost his job and you've lost your holiday.  :(  Big hugs!!

I managed to finally get in touch with my grandma by finding a number I thought I had lost. Apparently my great aunt is doing slightly better, though they had to remove 2/3 of her colon. They may be moving her into a private room today from the ICU, but she is still vomiting a great deal, even though there is no blood in it, from what I hear. Anyway, at least she is still alive, and hopefully she will survive this horrible experience.  :\\\'(

DH is feeling pretty positive about finding another job, so fingers crossed, and Thomson said we wouldn't have to cancel our holiday, would only have to pay a fee to move it to next year if necessary, but we have until June to figure out if we need to cancel. Hopefully he will have a job by then and we can still go, as lord knows we need it!  :-\\\\

Thanks for all the lovely support, as usual. You guys are the best.  :-*

Aww J, I hope you get your holiday and hubs gets a new job soon. Sometimes these things can work out well, it sounds trite but you've ended up so much better off in your new place, it's hard to leave a job that you've gotten used to and change can be really tough, but I'm sure you'll look back on the job situation from a better place in six months :)

Its me again...
Last night DH and I went to visit my FIL and he was in pure agony and had urinated all over himself and soaked thru the sheet.  The on charge staff nurse had just came on 2 hours prior and said the day nurse forgot to give him his meds aka pain killer so she had just done it.  So he had been in pain ALL day - needless to say we were furious. We got the on call doc in there and they doubled his oxynomin <sp?> to twice at the top of the hour but was half in and out of it.  Eyes open sometimes chatting about all his life and just let me go.  It was straight up heart breaking.  DH has gone into b&tch talk to the normal doctor now.
They are talking hospice to help manage the pain before he can go anywhere.  He is done with the antibiotics and we dont know if the pheumonia is gone because that would require an xray.  He was screaming with pain as they tried to move him higher on his bed or attempted to change the sheet or clothes - forgetaboutit.  It isnt going to happen.  This morning when we called he was having a hard time breathing but wouldnt you if you have been breathing hard in pain for 20 something hours? He wont wear his oxygen and they might need to put an IV in his back so he won't yank it out if it comes to the drugs being giving that way as the syringe with the oxywhatever he almost spits out.
Sorry for the rant but I feel so helpless right now and it breaks my heart for my FIL and DH.

Hopefully it will end soon as I feel he would be in such a better place and in no pain as crappy as that sounds.

Sorry to hear about your FIL, CW. :( I hope they can find a way to manage his pain better, that's crazy that the nurse just never gave him meds.
