I'm glad I didn't read this when your cat was still missing! I would have been too upset! But I'm so very glad it had a happy ending. Poor little Bosco!

That's just the  best news ever, also cool that you can still post and keep us updated on how you are :)
Yeah the internet is pretty good here. I've got my own room & en suite with a flat screen, freeview & dvd player, 3 menus to choose from each day... I've been in worse hotels! Shame I have to be too sick to enjoy it most of the time!

I might resurrect my thread in Homesickness & Hard Times for updates rather than clog up this one, though...

So glad to hear the good kitty news but sorry you're now stuck in the hospital.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Oh, SP, I'm so so glad to hear Bosco's home safe and sound!  (I had a kitty named Bosco when I was  growing up, actually - and so did my mom!) :D  Now you can focus your energies on your own health rather than having to worry about what might have happened. :)  *hugs* and healing vibes to you! <3

I'm so glad you found Bosco!

I don't think anyone will care where you post updates - we just want to know how you're doing.  Hopefully the time will pass quickly and healthily. :)

I feel kinda funny posting my update in this thread as it's no depressing in the slightest, but I've now finished two of the chemo drugs and had two doses of the third and have only had one reaction so far (a full body rash and 15min of breathing problems). No sickness, no vomiting, no lethargy, no bowel problems, nothing. Apart from a dry mouth (think bad hangover), I've been absolutely fine thus far! Everyone's coming in to visit expecting me to be sick but have said I just look normal.  :D This chemo lark is easy! (yeah yeah I know I just got lucky - it's different for everyone)

I've got one more day of chemo tomorrow (the same day that a 28 year old man, somewhere in America, will sit hooked up to a machine for a few hours to filter the extra stem cells from his blood), then a rest day on Tuesday (while the stem cells get a luxurious transatlantic flight!), and then Wednesday is DAY ZERO, my big day where I get my new stem cells.

And then, err, weeks and weeks of waiting for the stem cells to find their way into my bones and start doing stuff...

That's pretty cool! I didn't realise they could come from a different continent! Will you ever know who the man is? Or do you already know? I'm really really glad things have gone so well for you. You're doing GREAT!

When my SIL's brother had his transplant (my SIL was the donor), they called that his new birthday - and they all sang Happy Birthday to him.

Good luck!

hahahha that's brilliant! We were trying to figure out some way to mark the event, as apparently the SC drip is quite anticlimactic. I was thinking party hats and poppers, and some photos, but singing is fun! I could get used to having a summer birthday.  [smiley=party3.gif]

Oh, and my donor is just someone they found doing a worldwide search for me (so get yourself registered on marrow.org and anthonynolan.org.uk!). I have a brother but he ended up being a poor match for me, and in bone marrow terms, it's your siblings vs the rest of the world (ie: your parents aren't any better than some random person).

I thought it appropriate & why not have two birthdays per year anyway?!  :)

Love the idea of having a second birthday :) I named my tumour and thought of him almost fondly, like a dog would nip but was loveable really. I was really glad when he got put down though  ;D
