Great news! The doctor brought me the fantastic news this morning that my neutrophils (bacteria munchers) went up (for the first time ever!) to 0.7 today, which is the highest they’ve been since about February and the first sign that my donor stem cells are beginning to graft and do their job!! And it’s only Day 11! :D

That is GREAT news!! We need a "Better than a UP" thread!  ;D

Good news!
I'm typing this from HOME!! yes, I've been discharged, exactly 3 weeks to the day since admission, which just blows my mind! I've got to report in to Outpatients there twice a week, and I've got a dizzying array of medicines to take, but I'm home.

Bad news...
My hair started falling out today. Really disspiriting, since I'd gone past the point where people usually start to lose their hair (2 weeks past start of chemo), so I thought maybe I'd gotten really lucky indeed. But I guess not.
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London

Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

zomg, 3 weeks! That's amazing! I can't believe you're home so quick, how wonderful :D

I'm really sorry about your hair, there's not much I can say there really, aside from the usual trite, it must be horrible to go through but I'm really glad you're on the up :)

That is FABULOUS news! It must be so fantastic to be back home! I'm very sorry about the hair news, but I suppose in the big scheme of things it's a small price to pay for being done with chemo and back home. Though I wouldn't like it either.  :-\\\\

hmm, good point. I know I certainly wouldn't look in here for good news...

Edit: okay I think my thread has settled down from it's Grand Tour of the forums (from Grievances to Chit Chat and finally, to Healthcare and Insurance. You'd think I'd had a brain transplant!)...  :P

So, I seem to be having a spate of bad news.
My brother had this friend about 8 years ago, and we were friends too, we dated a little bit, had some fun but then i went to uni, kept in touch for awhile and saw each other randomly when I was home. He was a nice guy.

Couple of years ago he leaves for work and never comes back, wallet was on the kitchen table, keys were gone, nothing disturbed in his flat.
His mum started a poster campaign, was on TV and his picture went on all those terrible missing persons websites, but we never heard from him again.

They just found him.

And in my mind he was already gone, but to hear it confirmed was just awful, they don't know what's happened to him yet as evidently he's been there awhile, but whatever the reason, I am really sad, I've thought about him on and off for 2 years and always hoped he'd get in touch and now this.

Baaaad few weeks :(

A good friend of mine from work left on holiday this morning with his wife and their 13-year old son.  Minutes after they arrived in Bulgaria, his wife collapsed and dropped dead right there on the spot.
That's all i know at the moment.  :\\\'(

Oh no, Q-G. How awful. :(
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
