My daughter was in a head-on collision about 1/4 mile from home Tuesday tea-time.  She (and the other person) had to be cut out of their cars and flown by air ambulance to hospital.  She's broken both femurs in several places and had surgery yesterday to pin her legs back together - about 5 hours in total.  Thankfully a total body scan showed no other internal injuries or head trauma.  The other person also managed to get out with only one broken leg.

I can't begin to describe how wonderful all the services were at the scene.  The police, fire & rescue, ambulance and air ambulance personnel.   I never want to see someone I love being cut out of a car again though!

Apparently it could be up to 10 months before she's fully recovered.  As she's meant to be getting married next April I'm hoping that will be something to aim for!

What a terrible time for you all, Marmaldejar. You must be devastated but relieved to know that there's no internal or brain injury. I do hope she (and the other person) make full recoveries soon. Hugs.

Oh my, marmaladejar.  I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter, but so happy that there was nothing more internal or injury to her head.  A long recovery stinks, but at least she has the chance to recover...and as you said, something to aim for with the wedding next year.

Best wishes for a full recovery to her and the other person involved.

So glad your daughter will be ok, marmaladejar, and I hope she makes a swift recovery. That sounds terrifying!

Elle, that is so heartbreaking about your coworker. I want to cry just thinking about how terrible that must be. My heart goes out to her.

Shugga, I'm so sorry about your friend. I lost a friend in the US last week, he died of some viral infection while in the hospital, I didn't really get all of the details. It hurts not to be able to attend funerals and say goodbye to people who have been such a part of your life. Hugs.
