My brother-in-law is missing.
He disappeared from his camping group (that he was leading) in Brecon Beacons, saying he was going to the shop, and never came back. He took his rucksack with him but left his phone behind. They sent out a rescue team last night, including search dogs, but had to stop at midnight. Apparently it was pouring rain, too.
They've started again this morning, and still no word. My mum, dad, and other brother-in-law are on their way back from Ireland today (by car) and going straight to the Brecon police now instead of home...
It's only just sinking in that this is happening. We've only just gotten to know him in the past few years, as he was estranged from FIL's first marriage... But now he's a big part of the family. He's a new father, and I know his girlfriend is beside herself. The police went to her parents' house (they both lived there until recently) so her mum and sister told her and are with her... DH and I were just with them last Sunday, our first time spending any time from them on our own. And a week later, this.
