Came back from a 2 week holiday to learning of lots of redundancies in my company.  I am pretty sure I am OK, but my boss is out this week, so I can't be sure.  However, I have several colleagues and friends who are not so lucky.   I have two friends who moved up here in the last year or so from other places and they're at risk or going now.   :\\\'(

Ooooh, that is worrying, PB.  Hope you are OK, but feel for your colleagues.

Big hugs to you and your co-workers. Times like these are always scary, and the uncertainty leads to a lot of worrying. Keeping my fingers crossed you are okay, and sending out 'find new jobs nearby that you love soon' vibes to your friends.  [smiley=hug.gif]

Thanks both.
Yes, my job is indeed safe (phew), but the mood around here is definitely sour. Poor co-workers and friends!!

It is a relief your job is safe. I still feel for your co-workers.

Mine: We lost a kitty tonight. She has been sitting under mom's truck lately, and usually moves once the engine starts. Tonight she didn't. She was an older cat, and as loving as can be. She adopted us a couple months ago, as an adult, and has been here since. Mom is distraught, not only because she loved her, but because of what happened. I feel so bad for mom, but it was unintentional. That doesn't make it easier for her to bear. We have trees everywhere, and shade from the house, but she seemed to prefer the shade of vehicles.

The loss seems to be felt in our little kitty community, too. None of them are acting as they usually do.

How sad, Tama!  :\\\'(  My father once ran over the family dog (he'd jumped out of the car window to chase a squirrel) and never forgot it.

Thanks everyone. :) She was a sweet girl, and it is amazing how attached we all were after only a few months. Word must have gotten around the neighbourhood that if you come by, and have four legs, Tam will feed you. We have new furballs coming by all the time, and some decide to adopt us.

Mom is still upset, and will be for a while, but I think she is going to eventually be okay.

Tomorrow is moving day. My little feathered buddy will be staying here. :\\\'( Moe is mom's bird, but I have become incredibly attached to him, and he seems to love me too. I know I will adjust in time, but I have had crying bouts off and on all evening. I am sure tomorrow will be worse. Every time I go away from him, he will tell me, "see you in a bit", even if I am only going to be away a few minutes. I am sure I will dissolve into a soggy mush pile when he says that tomorrow.

Running into an old friend of my daughter's and her mum on the street ... and having to tell them that she is gone.  Feel bad for them getting the news like that and bad for me.

Huge hugs to you and them. Although it is never easy, news like that is a tiny bit easier to bear when you are told by someone who loved (and still loves) the person as much as you did. You know you can share the burden of pain and the joy of happy memories together, which can sometimes bring a small comfort.
