B,
Again, I'm so sorry to hear about Emily. I know she was very special -- so strong and courageous, even in facing the worst circumstances. I'm here for you if you ever need a friend. (((HUGS)))

Rumors are running like crazy that DH's employer is closing (thanks to the local paper).  DH just texted saying that they are pulling everyone in for a meeting, so I'm sitting here driving myself crazy wondering if everyone is getting laid off.

Oh no!!! I hope everything goes ok. My employer went into administration last year, and it was scary but we managed to stay afloat with new investors. I was even made redundant and reinstated in the same day! Hopefully there will be some good news.

Thanks Jewlz :)  It's not looking too good.  They've all been put on 90 day notice, so unless they can pull in new contracts (he works at a call center), they're all hitting the pavement.  Trying to be hopeful, but even our MP has come out and said nobody is very confident that it will turn around, so we're trying to make some plans now before it actually happens.  DH was really gutted last night, but MIL and I both talked to him and he's trying to look at it as a blessing in disguise and is going to start looking at options for going back to school.  So, it sucks big time, but hopefully in the long run it will turn out to be a good thing.

Good luck with this! Glad there is a potential positive side to it all!

Sorry not to add another depressing one after BD, but similarly my mom lost her battle with ovarian cancer yesterday morning.  She fought hard for just over 3.5 years.

Still finalising details about when to fly, but it's been so hard being over here.

So sorry to hear about your mother.  What a sad thing for you to have to go through just now.  And I know the distance makes it especially tough.  Thank God I was able to get back to E. in time -- I hope I gave her some comfort.  But as I said to her :"Even when we're apart we still love each other"
