princesslemons, my GP refers me for vitamin blood tests once a year and it's usually something I can get done without an appointment at a local hospital and no waiting for specialist for weeks.

Why not ask your GP to give you a referral too? That way you'll feel like some progress is being made while you wait for the neurological appointment.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I was thinking of waiting until Thursday to do that, so that I have my normal doctor. Plus the appt. is already made. Do you think I should do it sooner?

What can it hurt to ask, you know? :)

I just feel like I'm pestering my local doctors. :P I've been in twice in 3 days already... I feel weird going back twice in a day. And then if I waited until next week, I may as well just see them on Thursday.

ETA: the receptionists DEFINITELY make you feel like a pest as well  ::)

On one hand, I definitely get you with feeling like you're pestering. On the other -- if you won't advocate for your health, who will? I still think you're a long way away from the GPs thinking you're one of "those" patients enough for  it to effect your care in the future.

And they are allowed to say no. :)

ETA: Maybe that's something they won't even make you see a doctor for -- maybe a GP can just leave it for you at reception since you already saw him/her today.

This message swayed me to call :P But they said they won't be able to get me in until the 11th! My next appointment is the 3rd. So I think I'll stick with that... It's a shame. I'd really like to get that out of the way.

Oh well, I'm sorry -- but at least you tried. :)

Still, even when you go on the 3rd, and they order it then, you'll at least be exploring some other possibilities while you're waiting for the specialist. :)

I hope in the end whatever happens, it is all resolved quickly and painlessly and you're healthy once more.

Thanks mort  :-* Do you think it is wise to start taking the B12? will it affect the blood test when I get it?

My Birthday is the 5th. The first one I get to spend with Vincent in the nearly 7 years we've been together. :( I wish this could be resolved before that. He has things planned, and I just want to enjoy myself without having this huge thing in the back of my mind... *sigh*

So it's a week on since my readmission, and despite having huge doses several times a day of the most powerful antiobiotics, antivirals, and antifungals known to mankind, I'm still getting daily fevers and headaches. :( and they're still not any closer to a diagnosis. The doctors said this morning if I get a fever again today, they may send me for an MRI and full body scan to see if they can find an infection anywhere and barring that, I might have to get another lumbar puncture, which I'd really rather avoid since I'm due for a bone marrow biopsy next week anyway and either on their own is enough to make my back really sore for the better part of a week, so together, I might as well be an invalid...

Anyone else get any news on their diagnoses?

Oh love, that sounds awful :/ I hope they find something soon and you wont have to have the lumbar puncture.

I have a really high number of extra heart beats according to my heart monitor test, they're not sure why, I'm waiting on my heart MRI.

I'm so sorry Squirrellypoo!  I really hope you get your diagnosis, and more importantly some effective treatment soon.

Oh god, SP, that sounds terrible... :( I'm so sorry. I hope they can figure it out.

I'm no closer to a diagnosis. I had been feeling a little bit better, but I am still sleeping SO much. Last night I slept 11 hours. For me, 8 hours is the limit - I don't sleep in. I'm doing this nearly everyday, too... But I felt okay this morning, so I went to work today. I ended up nearly fainting on the train. I could hardly breathe. I was the same when I got to work and a bit nauseus. :( I ended up staying about 2 hours and then heading home.

My neurology appointment isn't until October 2nd. Ugh. That was with an *urgent* referral, too... I have another appointment with my GP tomorrow. I'm going to ask him to order bloodwork. Does anyone know if it is typical to get bloodwork done the same day like I would in the states? I've told work that if I can get the bloodwork done tomorrow then I won't be coming in...
