A sudden break up that has left me absolutely shattered. He wanted to at least remain friends; I couldn't do it. I'll also probably run into him tonight because of a birthday party that is being hosted by his housemate at their house. I don't know how or if I can handle tonight.

ooof.  I can sympathize (horrendous public break up at uni).  Stay strong.  The key for me was to go out for as long as I could (to make sure I didn't become a hermit) and then give myself permission to leave the party/dinner/conversation when I felt I needed to.  Getting out of the house is good, but leaving yourself an *out* to come home if you need to is necessary too.

Good luck.

My dad is in the hospital. He wasn't feeling well....freezing cold, tightness in chest. They found blood clots in his lungs. Not sure what is causing the clots/ where they originated. The snow if falling hard so mom is pretty much stuck at hospital with him. I find myself checking email every few minutes hoping and dreading an email.

I just want him to be well. He never complains, never wants anyone to make a fuss, is always the strong one-- the thought of him not being well is unheard of and worrying. I wish I coud be there.

My mom decided last night was a good time to tell me that my beloved great aunt may not live much longer due to problems with her pacemaker.  :\\\'( And that she obviously won't be able to come to see us this year because of her health. And that my grandmother won't be coming to see us this year, either, as planned, because she doesn't want to travel without her sister. And that my grandmother said if her sister dies, she won't have anyone around who cares about her now that I live so far away (this is my father's mother, and my father was an only child who passed away 10 years ago, and my grandmother has Parkinson's disease.) I love my grandmother more than words could ever say, we are very close, and the thought of her going through such a loss without me there is devastating.

Thanks. My parents are still planning to come and visit us this year, at least, even though I was really excited about my grandma and great aunt coming with them. But, part of me already knew they wouldn't make it since they are both elderly and the journey would be really hard for them. Anyway, I guess I am focusing more on the disappointment of not seeing them this year than the real issue at hand, but I just can't think of that right now.  :\\\'(

My kitty went outside on Dec 23 and hasn't come home. :( He's an indoor/outdoor cat and sometimes stays out for a day or so, but not 4-5 days in a row. I'm going to call local shelters/animal control in the morning to see if anyone's found him (via his microchip), but I'm worried something's happened to him. :(

2 cats I use to have done this, I ended up putting their food outside in a bowl incase they came back when I wasnt home and then occasionally shaking a box of their hard food outside in order for them to hear it since I was positive they were close by and come back.. it did work

Thanks, me too. Who knows, this could be an extended protest to the antibiotics/steroids I've been putting in his food the last 2 weeks ;) (bad timing for him, though, since we only had 2 days left on that).

Ah-Loom-In-Num, thanks for the suggestion..I hadn't been putting food out for him because he knows where home is (he's lived here his whole life), but I put some out tonight in case that helps lure him back.
