Thank you

The funeral was yesterday. God it was hard. So many friends..she became such a champion here for breast cancer awareness. She had a loud infectious laugh as well that always made you feel so much better when you heard it.

They didn't allow the little girl to attend the service..actually Lyn didn't want her to go...

One of my beloved uni professors is in Mass General Hospital with seizures and a mass in his brain.  We're all thinking of him, as he was one of our favourites.

That's just awful!  Hugs to you!

It is hard. Harder than you ever imagine. And it takes time and more time to begin to get over it -- if you ever can.
I was at a mall recently and saw a woman I knew somewhat and, of course, she asked: "How's your daughter?" with all best intentions, I'm sure. I just stared at her, wishing she would disappear, and finally said "We lost her" There wasn't a lot either of us could say after that.

Oh what a relief! That's great news!

(Also, not to hijack, but I didn't want to post my good news in a bad news thread but I'm doing really really well these days. The last 3 blood counts I've had have had everything in the normal range with haemoglobin at 14.0 consistently which is the upper end of normal. I feel great, I'm back at work 4 days a week and the biggie is that I've started running again. I did a pretty easy but slow 4.5km this morning, for example. And I've registered to run a 10k this summer at my 1 year BMT anniversary for the Anthony Nolan Trust.  ;D )
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London
99-00 - studied at Uni of Sussex on exchange
Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

Fantastic news!!! I'm so glad you are doing well. I think this thread needed a little good news.

MeShell, I'm so sorry about your friend. And Boston Diner, I know it isn't the same at all, but I always hated it when people asked me about my father after he passed away. It was just awful and I would always burst into tears. I'm sorry.  :\\\'(

My uncle, who is supposed to be 'the healthy one' in the family has to have urgent surgery this week. :(
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
