My husband was made redundant at the end of February, and I may now have to go through a redundancy selection process at work.  DH has had some interviews but that is slowing down now.

Oh god, that must be stressful :/ Hope things work out :(

BostonDiner,

My brother sounds a lot like your son, I love him so much, but he has some issues, and he went very down when his girlfriend split up with him, as soon as I heard (via facebook :( ) there was like, a sharp intake of breath and just that horrible pit of stomach feeling.

Glad your son seems to be coping better than my brother though!  :)

My daughter and I are both ill, and Pancake (our youngest cat) went missing on Thursday.

In the past few days, Spaz (our senior kitty) has been displaying hind-end weakness.  She almost creeps on her hind legs at times.  We've known her since at least 1997, and she wasn't a baby then.  Spaz has lived with us since 2001, when I pulled her off the street to keep a teenage psycho from killing her.  The cats were disappearing in the area; he'd admitted to killing one and been seen stalking Spaz.  In the past few months, she'd been sleeping more and not interacting as much with the other cats.  I'm sensing tiredness from her, and hope I've got the courage to do what is right before her life becomes one she doesn't want to live.

We also found a dead cat across from our driveway.  DD thought it was Kitkat, a stray we'd been helping, and was very upset.  Kitkat walked up to the house around 10 that night, so we know it wasn't him.   It was a tuxedo cat, like Kitkat and Pancake, but she insists it wasn't Pancake.

Oh, what a week!

Thanks, here's hoping he doesn't have a delayed reaction once the job ends.  Trying to keep him interested in his photography.

A client had died whilst waiting for his appeal hearing. The application should never have been refused, and he almost certainly wouldn't have died if he had been in the UK with his wife.

OMG, Vicky, I'm so so sorry! How absolutely pointless and tragic. :(
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

HUGS TO ALL

Both my parents are alive but I am now officially an orphan. Because they managed to alienate the rest of our family as well, on both sides, I now have no real family anymore.

Sorry to hear that. But you are joining a new family soon, so that is good news, right? You have a fiance and a FMIL who seem to think a lot of you. Keep your chin up.  :-*

Email from the acting Dean calling for an all staff meeting next week to discuss the financial state of the School.  Suggesting some changes will be made to the size of the workforce!  Our unit is already down by about 15%: "voluntary separation" buyouts and natural attrition.

Listening to the evening news, thats on in the other room, LL Bean the mail order firm is laying off 200 to 240  people.
