Thanks everyone for your kind words. It means a lot!

Andee, I know you are right, and I hope to meet someone else someday if we split up. It's just too hard in the meantime, especially when I am in limbo like this.
I just can't compromise on this. There is no compromise anyway. If it was anything else, I could bend but this is just too much. Like they say, you can't send a baby back if you change your mind.
May I ask, did your ex go on to have kids? If so, how long after your split?
Jenny, it will be hard at first.  It's a process you must go through and it takes time.  You probably won't want to be with anyone for a little while anyway.  You will get your life back together and on your own terms, first.  Then.....anything can happen!  The world will be your oyster again!

As far as my ex goes--he had it all planned out.  Meet someone new--first year.  Date for a while--second year.   Get married, have kids--third year.  Well the rumour was he did meet someone and get married within a year or so, but now they are divorced.  Still no kids.  As a matter of fact I do think he regretted the decision to get divorced, but it was too late by then.
Met husband-to-be in Ireland July 2006
Married October 2007
Became a British citizen 21 July 2011
Separated from husband August 2014
Off on an Irish adventure October 2014

I'm really sorry to hear you are going through this, Jenny. I hope you can work things out in a way that works best for you, whatever and however that is. It sounds really, really hard. Sending good thoughts your way. ((Hugs))

Thanks everyone! I think the decision is becoming clearer, the thing is acting on it.. I just think he always thought he could change my mind or that I would change my mind. Sadly mistaken! And I am so sad too..just trying to take it one step at a time. Your kind words mean a lot!
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.

My best friend's brother passed away after she flew back home to visit for Easter holiday. It's been about a week and I don't even know how it happened. She's taking it really hard and I don't know what to say. I can't even imagine what she is going through.

It absolutely drove my family to the ground last year when my brother was injured at work. I don't have children so I can't imagine what they were feeling but I still remember my parents' faces when they found out.

The same friend I was speaking about earlier; her father is terminally ill with cancer. He has lost all his hair from chemo, his liver is gone, and my friend says it's in the final stages. Exams were to begin this week and she has decided to stay with her family and do resits later in the year. I wish her and her family the best with all my heart.

After she told me that she was staying, I realized that I would be back in the US when she returned to the UK. When I hugged her goodbye and wished her a safe flight, I never imagined that would the last time I saw her indefinitely. Normally, we live on opposite sides of the world. I know it is possible see her again, but I doubt we will ever live just down the road from each other. That quick farewell back in March was definitely not the goodbye I wanted.  :\\\'(

My English friends dog has an aggressive cancer in both her hind legs & 1 of her hips. My friend doesn't want to have surgery on her dog she thinks that's for her best interest not her dogs so they are going have radiation done instead done down in Cambridge it's a 6 hour procedure. the vet said that gives her dog maybe a couple more weeks & relieves her pain for a while. but my friend said that means she will lose her baby in less than a month.  :(   [smiley=bigcry.gif]  I feel so bad for her her dog is such a wonderful well tempered Rottweiler. my friend has grown kids who live a couple hours away but her dogs are like her babies now.  :(  :\\\'(

Sorry to hear about your friend's dog Shugga. My BIL has been having a hard time. His company went bankrupt, so he was made redundant along with all of the other employees and now he has had to put his beloved cat to sleep because she had fluid in her lungs and couldn't breathe (she was 16 years old). I feel so sorry for him.  :\\\'(

After being in the clear for 13 years, my 86 year old grandmother has breast cancer again.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
