Email from the acting Dean calling for an all staff meeting next week to discuss the financial state of the School.  Suggesting some changes will be made to the size of the workforce!  Our unit is already down by about 15%: "voluntary separation" buyouts and natural attrition.

I'm sorry to hear that.  :(

Two of the people killed in Athens, Georgia today were people I knew.  One of my good friends was present and witnessed her friends being shot and killed (and the shooter was a friend, too), and three others were on their way to the event - they'd have been there, too, if they hadn't been running late.  It's all just so f*cking senseless and I'm having a hard time coping with being so far away and not being able to offer support in person.

Just saw your FB, Meg. Sending healing hugs.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I'm so very sorry, Meg.  What a tragic thing.   [smiley=hug.gif]

Thanks, everyone.

I woke up this morning thinking the whole thing had been a horrible dream, but alas.  And the police still haven't found George, and I can't stop thinking about Ben's wife Fran, and George and Marie's kids - I just don't even have words to express my horror and sadness.

Jesus Meg, I'm so sorry to hear about this. How truly senseless.

Meg I am so sorry, I don't even know what to say, it's all so shocking and horrible.  :(

My worse than an IA is goodbyes.

Saying goodbye to my boyfriend after a lovely visit, saying goodbye to my sister after she came to visit me from out of state, saying goodbye to a cherished friend and co-worker that passed away yesterday, and watching my grandma work her way to her final goodbye. All in the last two weeks. Goodbyes suck.  :\\\'( :\\\'(

The lady I work with (and now am good friends with) one of her good friends has been trampled by a herd of cows whilst out walking her dog. She has ran up to the hospital to see the extent of her injuries.  :(
