In the US, the number one song on the day I was born was 'Up Where We Belong'. In the UK it was 'I Don't Wanna Dance' by Eddy Grant (which I don't think I've heard).

For the BF it was 'Bad Girls' by Donna Summer in the US and 'Are Friends Electric' by Tubeway Army. For some reason I find this hilarious---the Tubeway Army tune is fitting, actually!
If we called them Sad Meals, no one would buy them.

US: Paul Mauriat "Love is Blue"
UK: Esther & Abi Ofarim "Cinderella Rockefella"

WTF?!!

Haha this is funny, never heard of my US song but the UK hit when I was born was "My Ding-a-Ling".  ;D

"I love your chin" "Say it again" "I love your chinny chin chin."

Those lyrics are awesomely bad.

Already know mine without looking them up:

U.K.:  These Boots Are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra
U.S.:  Ballad of the Green Berets - Sgt. Barry Sadler

Two great songs, so I'm quite happy with those!   :)

In the UK:  Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas - "Little Children" (never heard of them or the song.  :-\\\\)

One of the many Merseybeat groups of the era (along with Freddie & The Dreamers, Gerry & The Pacemakers, etc.).   I figured YouTube would probably turn up a clip, and sure enough, here it is:   :)

We are a nation that has a government -- not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the earth. Our government has no power except that granted to it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.
Ronald Reagan
