UK Taxes while in the USA
« on: June 19, 2004, 03:12:16 AM »
Ok so on a simmilar topic to US Expats filing US taxes for income earned in the UK... what about the opposite? Will Martin (my UKC Husband) have to pay UK taxes on his US income when we finally make the move to the US (permanently)?

NO, UK taxes individuals based on their residency not citizenship. Therefore once you leave the the UK, you will break residency with the UK provided that you remain a non-resident for one full UK tax year and do not come back to the UK on average more than 91 days over a 4 year period. If this is the case, then there will not be any UK filing requirement from the day that you leave.

Hope this answers your question.
