I know it is widely popular in some places but I don't like the word "honey"
Honey= a sticky and overly sweet item of food.
Honey=a name used in certain parts of the US.  In the London area they may use the word "Luv" or "Dear" (I'm trying to break myself from using the later word)

example, "Thank you dear" "Thank you honey"

The worst of the spouse/romantic relationship terms is "lady wife" (as in "The lady wife and I are buying a new car").  Sorry, but it beats all in cringe inspiring awfulness, even lovah.

I kind of enjoy "good lady wife" said in a facetious manner, and am very much looking forward to being a good lady wife!  :)

Exactly.  I find it deeply offensive.

Same here!

The other one I got pretty sick of was when I was pregnant with Struan, who happens to be a boy after two girls and people saying, 'Oh, are you hoping for a boy?'

I've only heard it used with the degree of sincerity that justifies the repulsion I feel for it. ;)

Dan keeps saying that he is going to refer to me as 'The Wife' when we are married, in a similarly sarky way.  I have told him I shall call him 'hubby', another term we both hate!

Does anyone remember the episode in season 1 of "Six Feet Under" when Nate introduces Brenda to David and Keith, and David says, "Are you Nate's girlfriend?" and she replies, "I prefer the term 'f*** buddy.'"?

Now f*** buddy's a bit vulgar.  There's always 'friend with benefits' for those people, who can provide that extra something that other friends just can't. ;D

I'm 45 and still a girl!  ;)
Me too!  (Not yet 45, but definitely still a girl!)
Girl-ness is a state of mind ;).  It never bothered me when my now-DH used to call me his girlfriend.

LOL ladies! It doesn't bother me at all to be referred to as a girl. Tim's just....odd like that, I suppose. But I love him for it.  Although, he did almost slip and called me fiance...to which I raised my eyebrows and asked him how I possibly missed such an important question!  (he was apparently thinking about marriage when it slipped out...at least, that's his excuse)

Same here!

The other one I got pretty sick of was when I was pregnant with Struan, who happens to be a boy after two girls and people saying, 'Oh, are you hoping for a boy?'

What's wrong with just wanting a healthy baby?

I had a relationship like that  once.  I  called him my "special friend".

"posh"

I am so sick of this word. Overused by certain members of my family.
