Unfortunately, when I am truly taken by surprise the unrehearsed utterance that comes out of my mouth is often "f**k me!". Shows how common I am I suppose.

Not so much what is said, but how some people over pronounce their "T"s or make to a point where you feel as tho you are being spat on..or if they make "S" sound really long ..like a noice of a lispy sounding snake. for example Ssssuper..or ssssssmashing! Urgh!

"f*ck my life".

There is an entire website dedicated to this.  People complain about things that have happened to them and end it with "fml", and then other people vote on the fml-ness of the submissions.  Kinda entertaining sometimes. I am scared to visit the site at work, but I believe its www.fml.com.

I knew about the website, and I do agree that it's really funny.  The phrase is just being over-used way too much by people who have otherwise carefree lives. And most of their "FML" stories are results of them being completely stupid, not actually a mistake situation.

This brings me to the next term I hear from all of the kids at my school that drives me CRAZY.

"legit".
example: "It's legit raining outside". or "I got an A on that really hard exam. That's legit."

It's not wrong, but for some reason using "ex-" instead of "former" bothers me in most instances (I still refer to ex-boyfriends as exes.) I don't know why, but it just sounds weird to me to say ex-president or ex-football player.

Ça me fait chier when people write "I'm an ex-pat". You're a former pat? Ah begorrah! And ye've lost the accent so ye have! You're an expatriate, and if you shorten it to "expat", why immediately lengthen it again with a hyphen?

On closer inspection, my guess would be that a lot of the FMLs are pure fabrication.  :-\\\\

Agreed.  Some were pretty funny though.

That made me laugh.

Like you, I have no idea what that means or why someone would say that but I seem to think I have heard the Lauren character on The Catherine Tate show use that phrase.

I had a colleague who had just discovered "critical mass" so used it in every other sentence.
