It's not wrong, but for some reason using "ex-" instead of "former" bothers me in most instances (I still refer to ex-boyfriends as exes.) I don't know why, but it just sounds weird to me to say ex-president or ex-football player.

You mean there are people out there who refer to their old lovers and partners as something other than f*&^face or f*&^wit?  ;D

I wish people would stop asking me if I'm looking forward to going home, or excited to be going home. I'm leaving my boyfriend I'm in love with for several months and you think I'd be happy about this?  What planet are you from again?

"I know, right?"

example:
"It's really nice outside today!"
"I know, right?"

WHAT DOES IT MEANNNNNN?

I use that phrase and have no idea why and where I picked it up.

This, on so many levels :-[ I get the variation of this:

Person: gee, I bet it's hard to leave your fiance and be without him for 5 months, especially since he asked you to marry him and all.
Me: *head explodes*

I know maybe they're trying to help, but what is that all about?  :-\\\\

All it does for me is makes me even more upset about leaving on Monday! I sort of wonder if it's a lack of knowing what to say to someone in our situations?

I think that's definitely part of it. They feel kinda awkward since they haven't been through something like this (admit it, an international LDR is a bit unique in some regards :P), and they know we're upset but they don't know what else to say :( I just try to shove it off because I don't want to make them feel bad, but it always depresses me kinda.

When I lived in the US I really hated 'normalcy' - what's wrong with normality?  Also I couldn't get my head around 'burglarised' - again there is a word 'burgled'.  However, I did love 'fixings' and 'fixing to do something'.

I had a colleague who had just discovered "critical mass" so used it in every other sentence.

Isn't it funny when someone discovers a word or phrase and ruins it for the rest of us?  ;D

Before Tim and I started dating, in our circle of mutual friends, we knew 2 US/UK couples and one CA/AU couple. I thought that was pretty good odds for such a small group of people we both knew!

Is that your circle of real life friends or on-line friends?

I know one person that I met in real life who met her spouse on-line.  I know dozens of people who I met on-line who met their spouses on-line.

I know this wasn't directed to me, but just out of interest, my friend (real life) met her guy online.  I met mine in real life.

Another expression that irritates me is "one quick second."  A second is a second.  I've been told, "Give me one quick second," numerous times.
