"Pre" - as in pre-book, pre-order, pre-planning.....if you book something or order something or plan something then that is in advance, so "pre", meaning before, doesn't add anything.
What pre-order should be is pre-release order, as in ordering before the item has been released.

And one that is American - "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less", sorry but if you could care less that suggests there is a level of caring that is less than what you care right now!

Oh, I hate 'my bad'. I first heard it in the UK but I hear it here now, too. Yes, it sounds like toddler-speak.

My all time hated phrase is 'at the end of the day...'

opps I say the "my bad" too, but not often.   :-\\\\

That's interesting because I'm pretty sure it's an American phrase... I first heard it from Alicia Silverstone in Clueless in 1995 (doing a quick online search - apparently the first ever usage of the phrase in mainstream media was actually in Clueless) :P!

This thread is a bit too much like this one for my comfort!

People started getting really narked and offended when others were criticising phrases that they used regularly!

Camoscato- where are you from? The Chattahoochee is a few miles down the road from me!

I'm from Austin, Texas.  I just used the Chattahoochee because it was the silliest name I could think of at the time. :)

I've driven through Atlanta, but never really had a look around.  I have, however, been to Eastanolee, which is just a bit north of Atlanta, and is also a silly name.  :)

Two things at work I wish people would stop saying:
1. I'm sweet enough when asked if they'd like sugar.
2. I made it this morning when I check their money under the light.

HAHAHA.

I got those *all* the time at my old job, among others like..."It must be free then" when trying to pay for something that didn't have a price sticker on it.  ::)

I'm sure the guys at the corner store near us are so sick of hearing "I'd like the winning lottery ticket" when people put in their numbers.
