Jewlz, you are so much braver than me!  My instructor is booking mine for me in the next few days (he has a crazy schedule so we figured it would be easier for him to arrange it) and he said he's going to try to get me in for the second week in November!

I had a wierd lesson today.  We went out from 10-5 and did nothing but test routes.  I drove well (no coasting!!!!) and the manouvers were good.  We stopped for a break, and then he said "Let's do a mock test".  As soon as he said "test" I don't know what happened but it was like I had never driven before.  When I went to parallel park, I ended up totally perpendicular to the curb; he told me to to just forego it and drive on when ready.  I started cruising down the right side of the road and didn't even realize it. :o

After that, he gave me a pep talk and we started over and then I passed his mock test.  It sucks though knowing I won't get a do-over during the real test. I just really hope I don't panic when the real thing comes around.

It'll be alright on the night  ;)  Good luck to both you and Jewlz.

Awww, well, don't worry too much. My instructor says he thinks the reason so many people fail the first time or two is because they are so nervous about it. He reckons they pass after that because they are just sick of it all and want to get it over with. My plan is to just try to be confident and drive as safely as possible. Most anything is a minor fault unless you are driving unsafely, dangerously, or otherwise endangering others. I realise I may not pass the first time, as so many others don't, and have already comes to terms with that. All you can do is your best, and if you screw it up, then you can always take it again! I know dishing out the money every time sucks, but at least once it's over, it's over, you know?

I'm going to book my theory this week I think for sometime in December, I've been taking practice tests and passing, I am concerned about the hazard perception though as I haven't even looked at that yet :)

I've got my first proper 2 hour lesson on Saturday and I'm really excited. I'm having really early lessons - at like 7am as I live on a really busy road in London.

But so far I'm really enjoying it :)

:D

Yay! Don't worry too much about the hazard perception. It's so obvious when you actually go in to do it. I struggled with the mock exams on the CD-Rom, but when I did it for the test, it was far easier than I imagined. Just click on anything you see that might be suspicious - a car driving a bit fast toward the junction like it might not stop, or a pedestrian that is walking toward the crosswalk and looks like they might want to cross by the time you get to it, and keep an eye on any cyclists, etc. Don't click too many times, though, or you will get an error message and a score of 0 for the clip. It really is easy, though, you'll see!

Ya but I drive everywhere we go lol and I started lessons at the beginning of the year but it was too much all at once lol now with baby coming I have no choice! SO SCARY! the theory wasn't too bad but I did have to study for it! And the hazard part is really stupid because there is no pattern to it! I passed but only just:)

Had my first 2 hour lesson (only my 2nd time behind the wheel) on Saturday and the instructor said he was really going to push me as he thinks I can handle it.

So we started off just starting the car and pulling off, then started cruising around the streets, then ( :o ) he started me on maneuvers! Which really surprised me! BUT...I did 2 turns in the road and executed them really well (!!!), both were 3 point turns, no hitting the kerb or stalling, and my instructor said they were the best turn in the roads he'd ever seen from a learner driver and a miracle seeing as it was my first proper lesson (I only drove for about 20 mins in my first lesson).
So overall I'm really happy and feel I made real progress in just 2 hours. yay! I hope this continues :) I'm also super happy with my instructor, he's really nice but does push me quite hard. Feel quite positive about it :)

Some of us are born with it  ;)  Good on ya!
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

Excellent! I'm so glad you are doing well!

I just drove on the dual carriageway for the first time yesterday. That turning right into the left hand thing threw me off a bit - I'm used to merging with the first lane of traffic, not cutting across! But I can see why you have to go the left right away. But it did throw me off and the instructor had to step on the brake to keep me from merging into the right lane! Other than that, good lesson, and I nailed the dual carriageway stuff after that first mishap. It was pretty easy. Just didn't get to practice today like I wanted to because all the streets around here are flooded.  :-\\\\

Thanks Everyone, I'm horribly uncoordinated, so was expecting to be rubbish, possibly hours of playing Drums on Rock Band and making a couple of racing games has helped out :D
It's really early days at the moment, but overall, I'm super happy and I'm enjoying it, it's lovely to be developing a new skill and be focused on learning.

Yay Jewlz, sounds like you did really well -  I can't even imagine going on a dual carriageway right now, cruising around deserted streets at 7am on a Saturday is enough for me! :) London busses are a bit of a nightmare, I was driving and one came around on a blind corner on the wrong side (narrow street) and I was a bit :o luckily I got over and didn't do anything stupid like stall :) (I saved all the stupid stuff for later) :)
