How do I answer this question?
« on: January 26, 2003, 06:05:30 AM »
Hello,

I'm a US citizen applying to move to the UK as a fiancee'.  I'm in the process of filling out the paperwork (ugh!) and there's one question that has me stumped:

"Are you a non-EEA dependant of an EEA national?"

I have the EEA part figured out, but I'm not so sure about the dependant part.  After all, I'll be his dependant when I get there....Should I check yes or no?

Thanks!

Welcome lolabola. :)

I'm not sure as I went the spousal visa route, and someone else will have to confirm this, but I think that you would not be a dependent. The question is "are you a dependent" and not "will you be a dependent". I think this question might apply to those who met and lived together outside of the UK before applying. There are many members who went the fiance visa route, it shouldn't take long to get a better opinion.

Hi lola.  I'd say you should check no on this for the same reasons Leah gave.

I third that emotion. I just filled out that paperwork last week for my fiancee visa, and put NO. Good luck!  :-*
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!
