Why does ILR have such a faster turn around time than FLR?
« on: April 01, 2009, 01:20:26 PM »
I have seen lately that some people are getting their ILR's approved in just a few weeks.  I am quite happy for them but it makes me wonder why they can be so quick with those when it takes 14+ weeks for the FLR.  I was under the impression that getting approved for the FLR was much easier than the ILR.  Maybe there is more burden to show proof of things when going for the FLR instead.  What is it that makes such a difference in the turn around time of the two visas?

Not necessarily true.  It's the luck of the draw.

As Vicky says, luck of the draw.

And also, from time-to-time, Ms Homer (who I like by the way) directs that ILR and Nationality apps are pulled from both ends of the queue.

Why? You ask why?  It tarts up the performance stats.  That's why.   ;)

Yes, I hate to say, but I learned that in call centre operations a long time ago.  Grabbing a few calls at the end of queue can make a miserable statistic look a little bit better.  Instead of 0% within target, you can quickly get 20% in target by grabbing a few recent arrivals.  *sigh*

Heh. Well. If it makes you feel any better, my FLR(M) application was just delivered to Durham yesterday, so I'm stepping on the conveyor belt today.

It's interesting they don't concentrate on getting FLRs out, as that one makes the bigger qualitative difference, mostly by allowing you to work. On the other hand, I'm enjoying the heck out of my unemployment...

Tomorrow is my 14th week.  I was asked for additional info.  They wanted to see the latest Council Tax Bill and his passport (even though it expired over 20 years ago and I had sent in his original birth certificate.)  I sent this info recorded next day delivery and they received it on the 1st.  I would have thought that two weeks would have been plenty of time to look it over and issue a visa.  They said I could call after the 13th if I hadn't received anything by then.  I wonder if I call on Tuesday the 14th if I can find out anything.  I really hate not knowing my status.

You can call if you want.  You will be told "your application is under consideration" or possibly "your application is receiving further consideration".

Seriously, save the phone bill.  They won't tell you anything of importance.
