I think the Wire was shot in various locations but I think DW told me that they were filming one shoot where actual drug dealers wandered on the set and there was some confusion - don't think anything came of it apart from probably a few laughs afterwards!

I can't say I know many of those West Baltimore locations at all and I wouldn't want to go anywhere near those neighborhoods.  I'm pretty sure those places where Cutty cut grass with the Mexicans was Roland Park.  And the "board meetings" the dealers had would have been one of the big hotels downtown but not sure which.

A guy at work had one of those stylized photos like that artist did of Obama:  http://imgsrv.wbz.com/image/wbz/UserFiles/Image/news%20images/obama_poster(1).jpg

but instead it was Clay David saying "Sheeeeeeeeeeeeit"  ;D

PS - Balmeron/Mattj74 - Just sure if you know but The Senator Theater closed a few weeks ago (as did the Rotunda Cinema...same owner), very sad! The Senator is up for auction. Sad
I had heard that it was going to auction and that the guy was shutting the Rotunda.  I liked both theatres very much.  Saw Transpotting when it came out at the Rotunda, don't think it was showing anywhere else.
I really hope they don't let the Senator wither away with only the facade as a memory - I understand the facade is a sort of Grade I listed equivalent so it can't be changed or removed.
On another note, sounds like similar happenings may occur with Pimlico Race Track.  The developer who wants to buy it says he'd consider buldozing it to put in a shopping center or to build around it.  I think the city would have something to say about that.  They need to find a way to keep it going, perhaps someone to buy it and make it profitable.  I can't see the Preakness going anywhere.

Thank goodness The Charles is still thriving. I am hoping that the Charles owner buys the Senator! The Auction is April 20th....fingers crossed!
I heard the Charles owners bought it at auction and really turned it around.  I haven't seen anything there for a couple of years but really enjoyed it.  Maybe he'll thrown his hat in the ring for the Senator?

Yes, all three cinema's were/are great! The Charles and The Rotunda showed great foreign and indie films. Luckily the Charles still does and I know they won't change that because they know their customer base.  :) Let's hope The Charles owner takes over The Senator, I think everyone is behind him in the city.

As for Pimlico, I was surprised to hear the news.....we certainly don't need another shopping center. Yes, I love convenience and variety but enough is enough.  Hopefully the city will step in and stop that idea. I think you have been away for a while (like I was), you should see Harbor East. It was like a little, mini upscale city within the city, it was build while I was in the UK. There is a nice upscale cinema there (it even has a swanky little bar in it) but they show mostly mainstream films.....its a nice place to go when there is a good film showing.
