Get caught with mixer taps, a garbage disposal, a dryer, and an electrical outlet in the bathroom and you'll probably be taken there via Traitor's Gate!   :P  ;D

I thought they only unseal TG for mixer tap violations and for owning a dishwasher. :P
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I think it depends on where you live. I dont live in Manchester officially, but i spent  9 months here before leaving to go back to the states for  a few months. Well now im back and without a vehicle. I found that not having a car was very refreshing.  Im fortunate to live in city center and getting around is done by walking and using a very put together public transportation system.  Getting groceries can be a bit of a hassle if you have a big list, you would probably have to enlist a cab which can run 5-10 pounds,(outside of London, lol) But there is also the option of online grocery shopping which can run you 3-5 pounds on top of your list.
Any time ive had to leave the city, i found the bus system and trains to be sufficient, but if you choose this route, the earlier you book your tickets the cheaper. If you decide to go somewhere last  minute, be prepared to pay. But all in all, i love not driving a car.I get plenty of exercise without even thinking about it, and i love the fact that when  I go to a pub or sports bar, i can walk home or call a quick cab.  A word of advice though, get an umbrella,it does rain quite a bit.

Manchester is supposed to be the rainiest city in Britain.

Adding my 2p.  I tried off and on to drive a manual for about 30 years.  Then gave up.  Clutches and I just do not get along!  We've had no problem finding automatics in the UK.  More and more people are buying them now.

I failed my practical the first time because I didn't have lessons.  I passed 2 weeks later on because I had an instructor to help me unlearn my bad habits.  We had to use my car as his was a manual.

Due to my location a car is a necessity but even if I lived in London I'd still want a car for the freedom it gives.  Besides, I love going for drives and exploring back roads.
Love life in Scotland.  Love retirement.  Love travel.  Life is good.

Though not on topic, I wanted to add to something I said earlier about WoW. I was looking into selling my in game gold for real life money as a means to save up for my move, however I've heard that it might be illegal and if so I don't want anything to do with it. I really had no idea about that and so am considering other options.
Yes it is a bit overwhelming at times, but when I think of her it all becomes just small things for me to overcome.

Met Lynsey online 2008.
Real life meeting planned for June or July 2009.
