question: unmarried documentation
« on: April 07, 2009, 11:45:53 AM »
hello,

i am wrote before about applying in person to change from a student visa to an unmarried one. i am still unclear about the documentation that i need to prove accommodation.

me and my partner have just moved to a new place into our friends place. we had troubles with our old place and had to move. we are at a friends place right now while he will be away. we will be here for 6 months. there is no tennant agreement. what needs to be shown to prove suitable documentation while under these circumstances?

thank you

i also wanted to add this in:

right now my partner is the bread winner. she makes 25,000 a year while i make only about 350 a month working part time under my student visa.

i have about 350 pounds in the bank at the moment while she has about 3000 pounds. is this also going to factor negatively into suitable accommodation? is so, how can i rectify this before thursday?

thank you wan for answering

just found a tenancy agreement in my partner's name from the previous place we lived 3 weeks ago. the agreement was only for 6 months at the beginning for the but we ended up staying there for 1 and a half. is this valid?

Not if that isn't where you are currently living.

You're staying at a friends place? Do they rent or do they own? If they rent can you get a copy of their agreement and a letter from their landlord stating it's OK for you to be there? If they own can you get their documents on that *I forget what it's called but it's from the land registry I think* and then a letter from the friend that says it's OK for you to stay?

hi webyj

those were great answers but unfortunately i don't think those will be an option. my friend is away because of family problems and is letting us stay there to watch his place. he'll be gone for a while. unfortunately it is a council flat. i don't want to cause him any troubles with his place as he has enough on his mind.

my old place had some serious damp issues so we had to go. we were actually getting sick from it. it was spur of the moment and wish now we could have waited a bit longer now.

You very well may have to put off your application until you can get your current housing situation sorted out so you can document it. Sorry to not have any other ideas.

all my post is going to the address i am at right now.

although i graduated in november, my student visa doesn't expire till feb 2010. but i'm not taking any chances. so i don't really have much time to wait. i could send it by post but my partner would need to see her family in northern ireland at time. 6 months is a long wait to get back our visas.

Wait, did you graduate last November, as in 2008?  Because I'm pretty sure that you can only stay for a few months after the end of your course, even if your visa hasn't yet expired.

my documented graduation was in december. i finished my thesis early so i was issued my british degree early but my courses didn't officially end till december. i had a letter written by my school confirming that my course ended in december and officially graduated both my degrees in december.
