Yes thanks Vicky, that was explained to me by @WebyJ and @ksand24.

I think I'd prefer to fly out for the KOL done than to apply for Spousal then the ILR once I arrive. They indicated that I'd have to pay over 600GPB for the souse visa then over 1,000 for the ILR.

It seems cheaper to fly out just for the test. I forgot to ask if there were 2 separate expenses for the ILE and ILR once I'm there though.  Gosh I hope not!!!

Yeah, sorry, I was reading that thread too, and the advice you have is good.  Come over, do the test, then it's just one fee of about £600 for ILE.
