Hehe, me and Steve might have to take a trip down to Devon when I'm all sorted, it seems like we all need a bit of a celebration :) And I definitely miss having a true English pint of beer :P

Northampton isn't *too* far from Devon; that's one of the things I like about the UK, it's feasible to drive almost anywhere on the mainland, and Steve is usually up to stuff like that, especially if a pint is involved :P

Haha, same with Vincent. :) We love our trips to Devon too! We always stay in Dartmoor... His family used to take him when he was a kid. We just like to get away from London and get some peace and quiet!

Hehe, Steve stays far away from London. We might end up taking the train into town and make a weekend of it when we have the money, but he refuses to drive there. He's only been up there for work before, and he's always caught a ride with the drivers he supervises, and I don't want to see him try to drive there :P But I think areas like Devon are more his speed--I wasn't sure where it was in relation to him, he had to tell me *sucks at English geography still*  :-[

Lol, that's funny. I'm not much of a city girl. I'm from a small suburb outside of Pittsburgh where everyone knows each other. I don't like how busy London is, but I really like the country over there... If we end up living in England forever, it will be in the country somewhere, NOT in the city...

Driving in London is INSANE. My first few times there, I would get a tension headache every time we were in the car, b/c I would just be gripping the door... It was terrifying. Now I'm used to it and know that Vincent can handle it. But I would never ever ever drive there. Ever. No really, EVER. I can't stress that enough...

I'm really bad at British Geography too ::) I was looking at teaching jobs in London, and had to keep asking him where these places were. and most of the time he would just say "Very far. Don't bother." haha. So I know things in terms of "This is close to London" and "This is FAR from London."  :-X

I was looking at London on google maps scrolled out a bit, and just the sheer number of roads and stuff on it scared me :P Steve is generally a very experienced driver, so when he says to stay away, I'll generally listen to him  :-\\\\

When I talk to people on here, and I see where they are from, or where they are going, I'll ask him 'where's Cambridge?' or 'where's Devon?'. So then he says like, 'east' or 'south' in relation to Daventry and then laughs at me :P But then again, he has to ask where Massachusetts or Michigan or Pennsylvania is at, so then I say 'north part of America, up by Newark' since he knows where New Jersey is, or 'middle of the country, up in the north, by those lakes' :) It all evens out.

Haha, that just made me think. I'm from Pennsylvania, and we drove up to my Great Uncle's house just across the border to Ohio, and his house overlooks Lake Erie. And Vincent thought it was the sea. haha. He refused to believe that it was a lake because it was too huge! And I told him "They're the Great Lakes... It's kind of in the name." But he still fights me on it and says "A lake cannot be that big. It is a sea. A freshwater sea."  ::) Though, I also refer to what he calls "mountains" in england as "hills." Because the hill that my house is on top of in PA is bigger than most of those "mountains" he refers to. ;)

That was a long tangent without much point ;D But I'm very tired. And when I'm tired I ramble. lol

Hehe, that's cute, prolly if Steve saw them he'd argue that with me as well :P I think he's just amazed at how overdeveloped we seem to be in my area, since it's so close to Portland--there isn't really any green to be had anywhere, and apartments and houses are still being built despite the slowdown in the market. It only takes a couple minutes drive out of Daventry to hit the countryside, where there's tons of sheep and cows and stuff, and I love that :)

Steve thinks everything's big over here--he was amazed at the default size of a McDonald's meal when he flew into Newark for the first time, and he can't fathom something as big as a Big Gulp :P

Lol, Vincent is thrilled with the size of food here. And with how cheap everything has been for him over the last few years. :P

I live in a town that is a happy mix of city and country. It's about 20 minutes to downtown Pittsburgh, and there's quite a lot of things to do closer than that. But my backyard is the woods, and we get a family of deer that visits us. :) I love it here... Not much a fan of the city and lack of green. Or how impersonal it is... But it makes more sense to go there for now. And honestly, I don't really care where I am as long as I can finally be with him. It's been a long 6 1/2 years!

Steve liked how cheap things are by comparison as well, he can draw out 200 dollars a day or somesuch here and he says it goes a lot farther here than back home, but he worries about his weight a bit (he's on medication where the dosage is dependent on his weight), so he tries to avoid all the temptations :P He just doesn't like our cheese here, and he says our bottles of beer are incredibly small (they are by English standards at least), but he likes being able to get away from the humdum of Daventry sometimes :)

I live in the metro area surrounding Portland, so loads of people live here and commute to work in Portland. It's amazing to see the difference on google maps between areas of England and my area here in the States, there's so many houses right on top of each other out here :(

But yeah, I really don't care what part of England I live in, as long as I know I can be there with Steve, and not have to leave at a certain date to go back to the States. I'm tired of the tearful goodbyes kinda  :-X

Me too. I'm messed up for weeks when we say goodbye.  :-X The first time we said goodbye (I was only 16 at the time of our first visit) I was so depressed and cried so much that my face was like, swollen. And my mother had to give me benadryl and I just spent two days in bed crying and sleeping. It was awful. Clearly I have matured since then... :P  But it still affects me so much. I get this empty feeling in my chest... And I'm sure you know what I mean... but it never fully goes away until I see him again. :( But soon that will be over! No more goodbyes! I can't wait! ;D I'm glad I have people here who understand that feeling. Friends from college were always like "Oh yeah I know how you feel. My boyfriend lives two hours away and it's really hard."  >:(
