More trouble with benefits and tax credits..........

Ok, my husband has finally found a new job that he has been hunting for for a while, it has the potential  to earn LOTS of money but the emphasis is currently only on the POTENTIAL ,in the mean time it will be run of the mill wages. I have quit my job (very dead end, very inflexible and min wage) to look after the kids while he goes about starting his career (tattooist!)
So my problem now is........can I still get working tax credits on the basis of my husband working and me not or can I claim income support (even though he's working:S)
Hate this rubbish. I only ask as I do not trust either of these benefits agencies to know what they doing and do not want to risk my husband being denied his citizenship for recourse to public funds but in the mean time I have three kids to feed and this opportunnity has taken years for him to obtain and will not come about again any time soon. Any help greatly appreciated! 

It is my understanding that as a British Citizen you are allowed to claim whatever benefits you are entitled to, you're just not allowed to claim additional benefits for your husband (who I assume is the non UKC). As for tax credits his income would need to be accounted into the computation and the claim would need to be a joint claim if and when his income increases at that time it would need to be reported accordingly to HMRC.

The best thing to do is to call HMRC and report the changes as required, they would then be able to tell you how this affects you.
