You only need the 95 GBP a week after the rent and utilities, it'd be for things like food and petrol you'd get on a weekly basis, and if you have some savings to take over with you it can be put into the budget as well to pad things out until you get your FLR(M).

Awwe... all you guy's rawk!  [smiley=daisy.gif]Thanks soo much for all the great advice, and in light of the situation, my fiance and I have decided it's best for him to come here to the U.S. and for us to marry here, after which I will come out to the UK..

He only has a  uk issued passport, will that be enough for him to marry me here in Denver Co.? Or does He need to get a visa? Will I just be automatically allowed into the uk, on a passport and a marriage certificate, say.. if i wanted to go back to the uk directly with him? If not, what else do I need? & if So, how long will i have after i get into the uk, until I have to apply for my spousal visa?

ThxThxThx!

- I'm soo happy to see all of the recent visa's approved posts in the forum,, Congrats Everyone!!   [smiley=balloon.gif] [smiley=balloon.gif] [smiley=heart.gif] [smiley=juggle.gif] [smiley=heart.gif] [smiley=balloon.gif] [smiley=balloon.gif]

1. He does not need a visa to get married in the US, UNLESS he intends to settle there.

2. As for marriage requirements in Denver see here: http://www.denvergov.org/Clerk_and_Recorder/Marriages/tabid/425746/Default.aspx

3. After your marriage you will need to apply for a Spousal Settlement visa BEFORE you can move to the UK. If you just want to go for a short visit you should be able to enter as a vistor, but if your intent is to move to be with your husband you have to have the Spousal visa in your passport before you go. You cannot go to the UK as a visitor and then apply for a spousal visa, it must be done from the US.

 Aaaaah okay.
i thought had read somewhere on here that there was someone, who got married in the u.s., and had went with her hubby back to the uk and applied from there.. I knew it sounded too good to be true, i can't deny, that's a huge bummer! Thanks for clearing that up.

Is the Spousal Settlement visa different than a plain ole Spousal visa? if so how..?

Also How does the application process for a fiance's visa differ form that of a Spousal?

Sry for being such a question pest, I really appreciate the help!

The actual application is the exact same thing as a fiancee visa with the same requirements...only thing is that you're only paying once instead of twice the fees.

The visa has many different names, but it is a Settlement visa. When you do the application online the Category is Settlement, the type is Marriage (same as the fiancee visa).

As for other peoples experiences, just keep in mind that if what you're describing happened some time ago on the visa's board that most likely would not be relevant considering the numerous changes immigration law has gone under since that time. The older the thread, the potentially less relevant the information & advice can be.

Best thing to do is do as much reading as you can on the official sites:
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf4husbandswivespartners
http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/Welcome.htm
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ukresidency/eligibility/partnersandchildren/
and
https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/Welcome.aspx.

You're not a pest, just someone who has a lot of learning to do.

I just got married in Colorado a few weeks ago.  He will only need his passport, nothing else.  Also, the cool thing (I think its cool anyway) is that in Colorado a couple can solemnize their own marriage, so you dont have to have a ceremony of any kind if you dont want one.  You simply go to the courthouse/clerk & recorders office and ask for a license, fill out a form (or some counties allow you to do it online before hand), then they hand you the certificate which you sign as Bride and Groom and voila! you're married. No need for witnesses, judges, priests, etc.  Easy peasy.  Good luck to you!

Oooh another question..

My fiance was wondering about the time when he get's into the Denver International Airport, and they ask him why he's here, if he says he's here to marry me, will that be kosher? Or will they turn him away?  He's really worried and just needs some reassurance that that won't be an issue, and is fully legal...

Thanks so much..

He can say that he is there to marry you.  It is perfectly legal and as long as he can prove he will be returning home (showing proof of employment and that he is expected back to work will do) at the end of the visit, he will have no trouble.  My DH was going to tell them, but they really never asked.  He said he was there to visit me and they didnt want any more information.

Absolutely this. Your fiance is doing nothing wrong by coming to the US to get married as long as he can prove he's not going to be overstaying his visa by coming to visit and that he has every intention of going home. My fiance is going to play it by ear with immigration; he'll tell them what he's here for, but he won't be stumbling over himself to offer a whole bunch of details without them asking (he was initially coming for a holiday anyway, so he's going to say it's a holiday *and* marriage).

He really doesn't have too much after paying rent, utilities, food, petrol, etc.,  But we would have more than that amount with just my savings.  I guess my worry is because they know all that will end once I move to England --- I'll no longer have my current job/salary.  And won't be able to work until after I get a spousal visa.

Honestly, if that's a big concern for you, I suggest you get married in the US so you can file right away for the Spousal.
