Thanks Jim.  I hadn't really thought about it until I read this thread, so thank you for that Mrs. Robinson.  It's nice to reflect on how things have worked out.  Mind you, my life has been no fairy tale and there have been plenty of bad experiences with the good.

When I was a kid, we had to write a story about what we wanted in the future.  My mom still has my story that I wrote and I said that I wanted to live in "the Queen's castle with the guards in the funny hats standing outside".   I have no idea if I had just watched a movie or something or what made me want this, but does a semi-detached in Surrey count?  Lets say it does, and that my life (will be) apparently always what I wanted (minus the guards) :)

Yep, it took me 31 years to escape!  :P But we're headed back there in November for a visit over Thanksgiving and looking to get back more permanently in 18-24 months.
