DBF and I are planning to name all pets we acquire after the states in which I've lived... Tex, Ali (for Alaska), Penn, and Indy.

It would be a good name for a horse.

I've had a

Sydney - my teenage choice for my first born girl
Cooper - a guitarist from a ATL band
Inna - a russian lady I worked with, who was really crabby like my cat
Aidan - was going to be Adrian (Edmundson) but thought it would lead to too much confusion in the US (vets assuming he's a girl, etc)
Mae -  aka Maeby, Mei-mei, Little Mama, Mae Belle, usw

...the whole damn thing will turn
and return redefined, rearranged, rearranged...

 - My husband had two cats when I met him, Erpiller and Astrophe.  As in, "This is my cat, Erpiller, and my cat, Atstrophe." ::)

My friend has a cat called Astrophe. I think it's cute.

Our cats are Abbey (all black) and Chloe (tabby). I read somewhere that cats seem to respond better to names ending with e or y. I dunno why, but it's stuck.

We used to have a cat called Elvis who was an orange tom. Loved that cat.

Back in the states the dogs are called Dexter and Duchess.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.

I vote for Tex!!!! :)

Ok, some names I am currently thinking of:

Boys:

Rorie or Roary, even (for DSS, who loves Roary the racing car and sings the theme song
constantly!)
Rudy (if the cat is onery)
Riley (after the Lightning Seeds song)

Kaede (Like Katie, but with a D, it's a character from the only book DH and I have both read)
Lucy
Molly Sue  :)

Hmmm.... will probably think of some others soon. Thanks for all the inspiration!

Oh yeah, I obviously like cat names that end in Y... :) My cat Lily actually preferred to be called Miss Lily. I'm not kidding!   :)

I had a cat named Kirby. She was named after the vaccuum cleaner because she ate any stray particle of food that happened to land on the floor.

My mom (queen of cool pet names) currently has a cat named Hieronymus Bosch, after the painter.  We call him Harry.

How could I have forgotten about my mom's cats? She has two brothers named Caeser and Augustus. She used to have two sisters named Penelope and Chloe, but Penny ran away, unfortunately. I picked out the names, and yes, I'm a Classical Studies geek.

I forgot to mention my in-laws cat, who is called Smudge.  She was named by her first owner who said she was so fast she just looked like a smudge of colour on the wall.  She's a tiny little cat, though, so my FIL calls her Smidgen.

That's cute  :D
DD has a "visiting" cat who stops in several times a day.  He belongs to one of the neighbours but no one knows whose or what his name is.  DD calls him "Morris".
