Kitchenaid 6qt Pro Mixer
« on: April 24, 2009, 09:23:07 AM »
I am curious to know whether it is worth bringing our Kitchenaid 6qt Pro Mixer to the UK.  We have the room for shipping it (doubt we will have the room in our rental) and we are going to have to buy a voltage converter for other things so we thought we would just include it but I was wondering whether or not I will regret it if I decide to try to sell it here in the US and forgo bringing it over to the UK.  I will never get what I paid for it and I can't replace it in the UK as they only sell the smaller mixers.......what do y'all think.

Bring it or not to bring it  ;D?

I know this isn't a food question but I figured I would get more responses on the food thread than the electronics thread.  I mean you can make food in it  ;).

Best thing I've heard all day. DH thinks I'm far too attached to my Kitchenaid!

What transformer are you using?

If I had a KitchenAid mixer, they'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I've got a few, but the one that I don't even need to remotely worry about is from newmarket transformers

Drool!  I'd kill for one of those.

I'd say bring it...and if you move somewhere where the kitchen is too small, I'd gladly look after it for you!

You guys are all too funny  :) :D ;D.

I'll bring it then.............if only so my DH can make his fresh pasta.  He just treated himself to the Pasta Roller attachment, the Italian in him got fed up needing my third hand for the hand crank on the manual one (which we will keep in case our kitchenaid ever goes south).

So I just need to buy a voltage converter now, do I get one in the US or buy one in the UK.......any recommendations would be great.

I'll check out Newmarket as per above.

I also found this place: http://www.airlinktransformers.com/

I have a UK Kitchenaid mixer (nothing to do with your question) but I use it constantly, probably 3-4 times a week. At the moment I am obsessed with making cupcakes....
This week alone I made Coconut Cupcakes and Chocolate with Peanut Buttercream....

Thank goodness I go back to work next week...

I wish I could make cupcakes and muffins but alas when you have an under-active Thyroid and are on a RX for the rest of your life it becomes a constant battle to maintain a good healthy weight   >:(.

I went home last September 08 for 2 weeks and by the end of the two weeks I wasn't fitting in my pants anymore  :o.  Cornish Pastis, Clotted Cream & Nestle Milky Bars will do that to you while not keeping up the Gym appearances.  Admittedly I did try to fit in 2 yrs worth in 2 weeks  ;D.

But we will make some wonderful pasta  ;D.

Slightly related question...do they sell these w/ the UK plug ins? I'm moving in September and I want one so was wondering if I should wait and buy one in the UK, however if they don't make UK-friendly ones I'll get one here and ship it over.
01 March 2009: online application
13 March 2009: biometrics
16 March 2009: submitted documents via FedEx
18 March 2009: Tier 1 Approved (NY consulate)
18 June 2009: Tier 1 start date
29 August 2009: Arrive in London
22 April 2010: Finally got a job

If you bring one from the US, you need a step down convertor that is strong enough to power what ever version of Kitchenaid you have. They are easy to find online.
