Ugh... had a bad case of the "woman flu" yesterday with horrendous cramps and general blah feelings. I did no exercise of any kind and I even stayed home from work to roll around on the sofa and feel sorry for myself. But I didn't eat much since I didn't feel too well, so I didn't pig out or anything. I will try to at least take a walk on the beach after work today if I can muster the energy. Man, I hate this time of month, though its usually only this bad every few months or so, at least!  >:(

Jewlz it must have been in the air cause I had the same problems yesterday I spent most of the day on the couch with a warm blanket, a bottle of Tylenol & a hot water bottle. ::)  :P  I wanted to eat anything chocolate in the house but managed to have nothing of the sort mainly cause of my Dietitians apt Friday but after that its game on lol.  ;)  ;D

I must be a odd duck out cause I think I do better going to the gym on my own mainly cause I can just knuckle down an do my workout where if I had a buddy with me I'm not sure I would have the results I have now. I have the gift of gab an wouldn't be doing as much of my routine that I should be doing I would be working my jaw muscles but not the muscles I need to be working on lol!!  ::)  :P

For me, I end up slacking off when I go alone :-X....but if I go with friends who are more fit than I am, I always try to keep up with them! :P

I think I might just be crazy. [smiley=mad.gif] J and I decided we needed a fitness goal. So we're signing up for the Highland Heartbeat Challenge.  12 mile walk/run and 10 miles biking. Got less than 4 months to get in shape, which is apparently enough time  ???  I did 7 miles hiking yesterday and I was ready to tear my feet off when we finished and my legs hurt today.  Hrmmm... But even if I collapse and die on the day ,its good to have a goal, right?

My boss is training for the North Run. He's not the fittest guy around, but he got some sort of training schedule which looks pretty good and he says it has been helping him prepare for it. I think he started off walking/jogging for just 15-30 minutes every other day, with a two day break in there once a week... so basically 3 days per week of 15-30 minutes walking and jogging intervals. Then it gradually increases from there. I bet 4 months would be enough time to build up some momentum if you do it that way. Just don't stress yourself out and start off with too much at once. It can make you get pretty down on yourself when you struggle to meet your first few goals. If you start slower, you can build some endurance and confidence as you go.  :) (Not that I am about to attempt running 12 miles and biking 10, but still!  ;)) Good luck with it!

Man, I was baaaaad all weekend. I ate too many cupcakes (I could blame that on mapleleafgirl72, but she didn't force me to try one of each kind she baked!  :P) plus I even ate at McDonald's yesterday before I came home and I am seriously regretting that decision. I haven't had fast food in 6 months and my body is NOT happy. My stomach is all screwed up and I woke up starving and shaky this morning. Not a great feeling. Plus I weighed myself and it looks like I gained 4 pounds over one weekend, but I guess some of that must be bloating from eating too much sodium (thanks McD's!). It doesn't seem possible to gain 4 pounds in 2 days, does it? Anyway, I wasn't really working out much last week because I wasn't feeling very well, so I can see it will be a real struggle to get back on track this week.  :-\\\\

Thanks!!! I found a 4 month training programme that starts off really small and builds up. I really don't want to take myself over the the top at the beginning, because I know that will just frustrate me and I will give up.  I also don't want to exagerate my autoimmune issues, so I need to take it slow and build up from there.  So, slow and steady and we'll see  :)

You can do it, PB! Starting small and being consistent is definitely useful for not torturing yourself physically or mentally to stay motivated.

Definitely!

I can take the hit - blame me, if it makes you feel better!  :P No point in beating yourself up for lives's pleasures!

Just remember that you've got your NHS quit smoking appointment and the exercise routine you've been working towards.  :)

Hehe... I'm definitely going to my smoking cessation consultation this afternoon, and for a walk on the beach after work. I'm not going to do the 30 Day Shred today. I can't convince myself to do it since I feel so bloated and awful, so I think I will ease into it with a walk today and see if I can do some strength training tomorrow. And I'm trying to drink a lot of water today. That should make me feel a bit better.  :)

Yeah, the sodium always makes me feel blech.

I ate pretty well this weekend, and got a run in, but won't know how I did weight wise until a little later today.  hmm.

On the upside, all of my previously tight jeans are now pretty good, and my one pair of thinnest jeans buttoned up..so we'll see.  I worked out less this week, which made it easier to manage my appetite, but I feel better when I work out more.

Jewlz, I can imagine how you must feel after the McDs (I am sure it was not J's cupcakes).  You know I just had that one French fry off yours, and it was repeating on me in an unpleasant way - and I thought to myself, man - if one French fry is doing that to me, Jewlz is really going to be feeling like crap.  :-\\\\  Try to drink a lot of water & get it out of your system!

LOL... why do I always think it's a good idea to eat that crap once or twice a year if I know I will feel like I have been poisoned afterwards? I think I am some sort of sick masochist. Or maybe it just makes me feel more American to eat that crap now and then.  Darn those salty skinny fries! :P I'm already feeling a bit better, but yesterday was pretty dire. The cupcakes, on the other hand, were delicious, but I didn't really need to eat two of them per day this weekend... haha. I'm no good with portion control where baked goods are involved.  :P

Jewlz, I was tempted as well but this is how I keep myself from the junk fast food like McDs:

1) I know that if DH had been there with me, he would have registered his stern disapproval if I got it.

2) I tell myself that it smells like sick - because it really kind of does, and that's enough to put me off.  I used to know someone who worked at McD's and they would talk about walking into work, and immediately inhaling the aroma of sick (i.e., the food there).

So yeah - it's aversion therapy, I think, but it works!  Cupcakes on the other hand - well those are pure wholesome goodness!  :)

Had a decent weekend food-wise.  Also managed to do my Nike Women's Training workout yesterday, and my legs were nice and tired.  Today, so far, so good--walked to work and planning to walk home. And lots of lovely vegetables from our veg box to eat all work.
Still need to pick up a bathroom scale...anyone have one they especially like?
