I weighed myself this morning, and found that, very surprisingly, I haven't gained any weight at all, even though I haven't been trying very hard lately (I even had fish and chips the other night!  :o) Somehow, that has actually motivated me to eat healthier and try a bit harder to maintain my weight loss. I don't have much energy because of the Champix (its been making me ridiculously lethargic so far, but hopefully I will get used to it). I tried not logging in foods, but keeping a food diary keeps me honest, and it seems if I don't log it in, I don't have to acknowledge it. I think it would be best to stick with the logging in for a while, just to keep me on track. Quit date coming up Monday... I'm really looking forward to being a non-smoker, and I think the medication is working because I have found that I rarely finish a cigarette now when I light one up. And the smell is starting to gross me out, so that's helpful.  :P

Sending good vibes for your quit date! Glad you are starting to get turned off.

I am hoping I am up for the gym this evening, but had to get up early for Mr MLG's work today and also started to fret at 4.30 AM about some karaoke songs not downloading properly.  ::)

At least I have nothing serious to worry about in my life.........and exercise manages that!  :P ;D

Thanks! I'm going to give it my best shot. As long as I can distract myself and manage not to smoke for the first couple of days, it will get easier after that. It's always Day One and Two that are the hardest.  :-\\\\ I don't have much energy at all (we've both been so tired and going to bed nearly 2 hours earlier than usual), but hopefully I can convince myself to at least do some walking or low impact exercise to help me out a bit. These pills do cause some serious drowsiness!  [smiley=sleeping2.gif] But I guess that should actually help with the anxiety of quitting. Man, it sucks to be addicted to something. I want to be freeeee!  :P

You will SO get there, I promise.  I was a heavy smoker for years, and then got down to only socially smoking, and then I realized just the other day that I haven't smoked in a few months, and I've been out and been social and drinking.  I can't say I won't ever crave it again, but all of a sudden, it just was less there.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I only had 9 or 10 cigs yesterday, which is about half what I normally would have, and this morning, I had my morning cig and didn't enjoy it at all and its usually the best one because I get a bit of a buzz from it. Today, no buzz AT ALL. Just... meh. Like, why did I bother? So I take it the pills are finally really working for me. So far today, I've only had 4 cigs and I have been up since 7am, so that's pretty good for me. I'm not even really trying not to smoke. It's just weird because its only the habit that tells me to smoke, not the craving for it, so I am trying to find other things to do to avoid missing it. It will still be challenging on Monday to start going without completely, but now I can see how much the meds really do help to overcome the cravings, so I am sure I will be ok so long as I stay busy (and I purposely left a few things on my desk to do on Monday because I knew I would want to be busy). Today I cleaned the fridge, did some gardening, and washed the car. Now I'm about to clean the pantry. It feels good that I would rather be doing productive stuff than just sitting around and smoking. It makes me sad to think that many times that was enough to keep me occupied.  :-\\\\

What I did love was the money I started saving.  It mostly went to clothing, I think..but it really added up!

Down 0.7 lb this week- which means in a month since seriously trying to lose weight by healthier living, I've lost 6.5 lbs and 0.5 to go and I'll be out of this stone bracket!  :)
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Congratulations!!!! That's great news, and really good progress!  ;D

Today is Day 1 of not smoking. I was sort of anxious about today all weekend and ate a few things I know I shouldn't have and a bit extra. But today, I wanted to be kind to myself and help my body detox, so I brought an apple to work and plan to munch on grapes and celery this afternoon instead of sweeties, biscuits and crisps. And I'm drinking LOADS of water. I'll be so busy going to the toilet, I'll never have time to think of smoking.  :P

Jewlz, just don't punish yourself this week!  You'll be in withdrawl, so your body is going to be acting a little out of whack, anyway.  You sound like you're on top of everything, but even if you do gain a little weight from quitting, it's only temporary, and you'll drop it in no time because you'll be able to breathe better when you're back to your hiking around!

(I did gain, but less than 5 pounds, I think?)

Good luck!

Yeah, no point in punishing yourself.  :)

Best advice from a fitness instructor ever: 'do what you can 'cause something is better than nothing': you'll have ups and downs and that's OK!  :)
