I took a water aerobics class at the leisure centre when I first moved to England. Since it was during the day, it was me and all these old ladies. It was pretty funny! The instructor was about my age and she just kept kind of looking at me and we'd have a little chuckle. She actually ended up also teaching yoga, pilates, and fitball classes and ended up being one of my favorite instructors of all time!

Due to the stress of last week (at least I'm fairly certain) I didn't lose any weight. I'm acutally up 3lbs but I'm trying not to let it get to me and keep in a good mindset. I am down .2 from yesterday so that's good and fingers crossed it continues the downward motion the rest of the week.

Don't weigh yourself from day to day! It makes you insane :( (well it does me anyway, crazy and obsessive)

All that matters is you're working at it and you're healthier than when you started. 3lbs is very little in the grand scheme of things especially when you're doing so well.

I exercised (running, cross trainer, swimming, etc) five nights last week and last night and have not lost any weight.  Unfortunately, I am one of those who needs to see results quickly and am feeling discouraged already as I have not seen any (eventhough logically I know its very early in the game).   *grouch grouch grouch whine whine whine*

I just wanted to agree with this.  If you are the kind of person who is in the least bit obsessive it's a bad habit to get into (crazy-making).

I've been to Curves 6 times now and already my arms a little less spongy. This makes me very happy!

On the weighting yourself every day issue, I do but I have an app on my phone* with a logarithm from the Hacker's Diet http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/e4/signalnoise.html which makes real sense out of what Iweigh - and not just the fluctuating numbers - so Ican see how my weight is trending. I may weigh more today than yesterday but I still weigh less than I did last week so it's trending down.

I find it helpful 'cause I get to obsess about my weight without going crazy :o)

Other things are also important, like to understand your own dietary intake. Measurements are also a good way to indicate a degree of fitness and health. If you do weigh yourself, I'd recommend doing it at the same consistent time, for accuracy, so say, weekly at the same time of day.

Weight is only one of many indicators of wellbeing and taken in isolation is not very useful for anything other than obsessing. I can understand if you are doing daily weigh in to understand your own personal weight range, so to speak, though.

Well I tried to start my "diet" (more or less just eating strictly healthy foods but not restricting my calories) yesterday.  Due to stress...it did not work out at all.   :(

Got up this morning and went for a 30 minute walk.  Have eaten quite a bit today but it was oatmeal for breakfast and lots of fruit and vegs (no junk food YET today).  This is way harder than I thought it would be.  I seem to be way more hungry now than I have been...even though I'm actually eating more food.   >:(

That all sounds really healthy! You can do it!  :)

If you feel the need for junk food, portion control helps for me. So buy smaller bags of crisps or cut smaller portions of pie or whatever. I wouldn't cut myself off. Then that might make being healthy feel like a punishment. Just my experience.  :)
