I kinda envy you your gym routine. Not enough to get/stick with one of my own, mind you - so I guess what I really envy is that you have the will-power/dedication/whatever to do it :)

Speaking of gym routine...

I got an email today that I can join our gym and get Sept/Oct free (cool) evevn if I pay monthly BUT what is your routine.
What works for you?

I go to the gym and automatically go to the treadmill and spend an 45 on there alternating from walking fast to jogging then walking to cool down.  I think might hit an ab machine for 3 sets of 15.

I feel I need some type of agenda but I am one to get in and get out! I dont want to socialize.

So whats the best plan?

I wish I felt good enough to actually get any benefit from a gym-i.e. classes- I really miss boxing and martial arts classes- but I'm in too much pain to even do any classes at all (even non boxing/martial arts stuff like aerobics or body pump or spinning or any of that- just too hard for me)

I love swimming, but I'm so busy that I can only get to the pool usually once a week if I'm lucky, for the hours they're open.

I loathe treadmills/stationary bikes (a class would be ok, but too much pain to do all the standing-sitting, etc of a spin class)- boooooooooooooooring and I'd last like 3 seconds before being bored to death

Well at least my bike is here now, so I can get my cycling back in (I can go at my own snails pace and take lots of breaks, which is OK for my health and the scenery changes so I'm not bored!)

Amazingly, despite lots of champagne and rich food over the weekend, I didn't gain any weight last week.  I didn't lose either, but that's fine, life got in the way and it was worth indulging this past weekend  :) :)

I don't work & we don't have any kids so I have alot of free time on my hands. I don't know how to explain it but sometime awhile back something just clicked in my head an I have been dedicated & were going home to see my family in a month & half so that has been also been my motovation as well.

Jenn that would be nice if my gym said I could have Sept/Oct for free I would jump on that in a heartbeat.  ;)  :)

I have a routine that was set up by my trainer. I start out on the treadmill for 15 mins I used to run but hurt my left calf twice already so now I do a fast pace walk at an incline, then I do the spin bike for 20 mins an I usually can do between 8-8 1/2 miles in that time, then I do a 1,000 meters on the rower I can do that in 4 min 28sec, then I do 3 different types of free weights, then I do 3 different types of weights for my arms on the weights machine, then I do 10 min's on the stepper, then I do 15 min's on the cross trainer, 10 mins on the AMT machine. I do 8 sets of 10 reps on the Ab machine, then I do 2 sets of 15 reps each on the inner & outer thigh machine, towards the end of my routine I do 4 different types of exercises for my core & my abs, then I do my stretches, then when I'm done with everything I go on the Power Plate for 14 mins that's my favorite part of the gym!!  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

When I leave the gym I am soo knackered but I love the results I get from it even though it took a looonngg while before any of my hard work showed.  ;)  :)  I have no trouble sleeping at night lol!!  ;)  [smiley=sleeping2.gif]  I don't like the stationary exercise bike but for the most part I don't mind the spin bike except for the seat oh my heavens that hurts my rear I have to sit on my towel so it doesn't hurt as much.  ::)  :P  I need to get me some gloves as well I cant wear my rings in the gym anymore they bother me too much I already have calluses on my hands cause of them & the weights.  I figure what we pay for me to go there I'm going to get my moneys worth & then some.  ;)  :)

I posted a link to show you what a Power Plate is it is pure heaven to me lol.  ;)  ;D  I use it for toning, massaging, & stretching.  http://uk.powerplate.com/EN/products/products.aspx

Yeah, that's a really impressive gym routine.

Thanks now you know why Dh says its my part time job & I'm a glutten for punishment lol!!  ;)  :)  I usually do my gym routine 4-5 days a week if I worked I know there would be no way I could as much as I do now.  ;)  :)

Well I've been trying to make some small changes in the last month or two months - drinking a bit less alcohol, trying to snack less, talking myself out of sweet/sugary/fatty cakes/pastries/sweets/etc (although not always succeeding  :-[), eating more veg...and trying to move a bit more (taking up our rambling again, although most of my activity in the past week has been for shopping - lol!  but moving around at least).

Anyway, this morning, rather than having 20+ pounds to lose to get to my first goal, the scales say I only have 15 pounds to lose.  I kind of feel like I daren't believe it & it'll probably all change once TOM gets here, plus our holidays coming up.  But I was pleased with that, for today.

My first goal is to get back down to the weight I maintained for quite awhile here in England, after I lost a lot of weight after moving over, during the first couple of years or so.  Then I hurt my knee & my mom died & I started to comfort eat more & piled some pounds back on.  So it's nice to see the scales going the other direction again, for a change!  :)

Thanks ladies!  It's been slow going, and there's always the two steps forward, one step back - especially every TOM when my bloaty weight inevitably goes up by 5-7 pounds.  :-\\\\  Then you just feel like crud.  But as you both know, slow is the best way - it's what I did successfully before & so I'm hopeful this time too.  :)

I am probably going to look into the gym again after we get back from our hols.  There's a new one in city centre that some friends go to - it's only £16-17 per month (plus £20 joining fee to start), and no monthly/minimum yearly or two years or whatever contract which is a huge plus.  Also the option to put the membership on hold for a month at a time (without paying another fee to join up again).  I was honestly in much better shape when I was going to the gym regularly, but the membership I had before was nearly £60 a month & definitely wasn't worth that - particularly as we travel so much, the times I wasn't using it, etc.  This new one seems like it'll be a better deal for me.

Good for you, Mrs R!

I am still only doing about 50% of what I did before being unwell, but at least I am getting on track again.
