Today I felt 100% at the gym and it felt great. I've also started a Low-GI diet. The hardest thing is the potatoes. I can eat new potatoes, but mashed are going to have to be a treat!  :-\\\\

Okay, I just went for a long walk and did some crunches when I got in. It's a start!  :D I hope to do some more exercise tomorrow, maybe a walk and my bellydancing dvd or something. I've got to try a bit harder to control my weight, as my clothes are not fitting too well these days and I can't afford to buy new ones!  :-\\\\

I know that feeling all to well about potatoes I was fond of baked potatoes & mashed but now I couldn't tell you the last time I had either. I know for me sweet potatoes have become my best friend these days lol.  ;)  :)

I went to the gym this morning for my usual brutal routine when I got home I had my lunch an not long after that I had a wee nap I was that knackered from my routine & a early start.

Before I moved to England I hadn't had a baked potato in 2 years. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of sweet potatoes.  :-\\\\  I find it was easier to do Low-GI in the US because there are more soup and salad options when eating out for lunch. On the whole I just ate a lot fewer sandwiches when I lived there. Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch and I'm already stressing out about what I'm going to have!  :-\\\\

Before I moved to England I wasn't a fan of sweet potatoes either until about a year & half ago. then when I went to the dietitan an she suggested it I was dubious but tried one an I actually liked it baked & without the skin as well I haven't tried any other way though. I have a sandwich most days for lunch but I have wholemeal bread my dietitian said that was fine as long as its wholemeal bread an I only have 2 slices max for my lunch. I understand going out to eat you cant always get wholemeal bread or wholemeal pasta when ordering a sandwich or a pasta dish. I'm not a big salad fan myself wasn't a big fan in the States either. I'm not sure if my LO GI diet is bang on the way it should be but we avoid all white food an replaced it with wholemeal stuff now & we mainly look for sugar content in things an if its in the range I can have which isn't very high at all we usually get that product.  ;)  :)

Going to the gym this afternoon to torture myself again lol.  ;)  :)

Thanks Shugga. They had some nice soup at the restaurant, so I survived! And it was cheaper than the sandwich I would normally get, so bonus!  ;D

I guess it would have been considered 'stew' over here: Moroccan chickpea and lamb soup. It was tasty!

Hey guys, just wanted to share this with you. I connected with this guy on Spark People, and I think his blog is really inspirational. He's lost over 200 pounds just through regular diet (just eating healthier, not cutting carbs or whatever) and exercise and he really inspires me. Check out his blog, if you want some motivation!

That sounds so good!

Has anyone ever looked into the full fat diet thing?

http://www.livinggorgeous.com/

I was reading up on it, as I've using whole milk with my cereal instead of skim, and other full fat substitutions, as I think it makes me feel full for longer so I tend to eat less overall. I just log everything into my food journal to make sure I'm within a healthy range of calories, fat, carbs, protein as usual. What do you think? Has anyone tried this or read this book? I just thought of it because the other day I heard on the news that women who consume full fat dairy maintain their weight more often than women who don't.

My hubby's trainer would much rather he use full fat milk than low fat or skim, and this was even back when he was trying to lose weight as well as build muscle.

This is very off topic, but one of my pet peeves is not being able to use full fat milk in my coffee--I'd rather use full fat soy milk than skim milk!  Our friends, lovely lovely people they are really love their cheese and eat lots of it, but they only ever have skim milk in the fridge.  Next time we stay over, I'm tempted to bring my own full fat milk.

Yeah, there was an article on it somewhere online, I'll see if I can find it...

Here we go! It does sound pretty feasible.  ;)

I think there's something to it.  That and avoiding the "light" products in general, because I think they are usually pretty processed, and don't have much nutritional value anyway.

I feel fuller when I just eat the normal versions of things.
