Ok, sooo, I'll be the first to admit, I've been a slacker. I believe my last post on this board was in May, when I had joined a gym in the US.

Since then, I left my job, packed up my bags, and started university in Notts. My course has kept me really busy-- I'm in the lab anywhere from 8:00am - 8:00pm, which leaves little time for anything else. I was able to join a gym that's open 24/7, but have only been once since it opened in mid-November. It's a bare-bones gym though, with just cardio equipment, free weights, and the machines. No exercise classes. No pool. But it keeps my membership rate low..
I'm in the US for Christmas/New Year, and can proudly say that I've been going to my parents' gym for the past two weeks, doing a variety of things so I don't get bored-- yoga, pilates, treadmill, elliptical, swimming, weight training, etc. I'm worried that when I return to Nottingham, I will get bored with just cardio/strength training. I do have a yoga mat, but my apartment is itty bitty, without much room to actually do a workout..
How do you all keep yourself from getting bored/losing interest? Also, as a side note, I just discovered you can search for workout-buddies on SparkPeople's SparkPages...except in creating my own SparkPage, it won't recognize my postcode, as it's alphanumeric rather than the US's numeric zip codes. Have any of you gotten around this? If so, please do tell, as the rep who responded to my email was less than helpful.
Anyhow, from the sound of things, it seems the holidays have happened to hit everyone back a notch (My mom's constant baking isn't helping me either!), but I've found that the SparkPeople articles are actually quite motivating!
PhatBeetle--Instead of *trying* not to eat anything fried, I've given up soda and chips. If I eliminate all fried foods, I'm bound to fail (Who doesn't love some fried chicken!?!), so i've limited it to just two things, which to me, seems more manageable. Maybe this could work for you???
Shugga- How were the first two days being back on your diet?
Jewlz-I'm so sick of all the holiday toasts too!

CheeseBiscuit- I wouldn't consider you a cheater at all. The surgery was a huge decision for you, and from what I know, it is definitely not a "short cut". Keep up the good work, and good luck with your continued weight loss!
