Hi everyone! I think I'd like to try and join this group
I've started working out again, but unfortunately only able to go about 4 times per week. I try to do more cardio than weight training, about 45 minutes each time I go, splitting the time between two separate machines. I have also been trying to not eat fast food, how come it is so hard?
? I eat it about once or twice a month if I even do allow myself that. I've tried watching what I eat at home as well and snacking on veggies more often.
I have such a hard time drinking all the water though, even though thats what I drink, about 7 glasses a day. Unfortunately I can't lose the weight. It's extremely frustrating, can anyone suggest anything else? I can try to do some workout videos at home I guess, but being a full-time student and working almost 40 hours a week, trying to keep in touch with Dan as much as I can. it's just so much and I'm getting really down on myself cause I can't lose the weight I gained in the last year.
I don't have any specific advice except that it takes hard work and time. How long have you been dieting and exercising? Did you lose weight initially and now it has stopped? I ask because plateauing is fairly normal and I think everyone has experienced that at some point.
If you're really motivated, it's not hard to find 30 minutes a day to workout. I've failed at doing this in the past because I was just too lazy or exhausted to do it...but now that I'm forcing myself to find the time and do it, I see how beneficial it is and as much as I hate to workout...I actually enjoy getting my workout done. It's like I've met a challenge or I'm winning a competition or something (ok that might seem slightly mental but it works for me).
Also meal planning is beneficial for me when dieting. You can make meals ahead of time and freeze them so all you need to do is pop them in the microwave. You can make your lunches the night before so all you have to do is grab the bag in the morning. Also making sure you always have a big variety of fruit and veg to snack on. For me, those things have always helped to keep me from reaching for quick snacks or fast food.
Also maybe try a different diet. Different things work for different people. I heard so much about low carb diets being the greatest thing on earth and how every single person who does it loses a gazillion pounds...but it's never worked for me. I initially lost weight and then for 3-4 weeks after, my weight never moved (even though I remained below 20g of carbs a day the entire time). For me now, carbs are the main thing I eat (a lot of bread and pasta especially) and I watch my fat intake instead. You might have to play around with it to see what works best for you.
Oh and if you're not doing it already, I highly recommend using an online website to track your daily calories. It's amazing how quickly little things can add up. Or...it could be that you're not eating enough calories (eating too few calories you can still lose weight but once your body goes into starvation mode, it will start burning muscles and stores the fat...the main reason I try to keep my calories up to at least 1200).
