Dollars to Euros exchange rate

I just tried to exchange dollars to Euros at the AAA here. My sister is going to Spain right after her graduation from high school this week. I wanted to give her Euros as a graduation gift.

AAA here wanted $100 for €60. That's their only option - I can spend $200 and get €120. Neither of those are the amount I want to give my sister. Plus that's $1.67 per Euro. The current exchange rate seems to be around $1.33 per €1.

Does anyone else think that's a rip off? Or am I getting a good deal? There is no where else I can exchange money here, but I'll be able to tomorrow as I'm driving across state to my family's house.

That's a rip off. THey are charging fees on top of giving you a bad rate! What about going to your bank and buying her a traveler's check in Euros? It costs a little, but they should give you a better rate. Or give her the cash in $ to exchange herself once she gets there. Is she using a bank card (ATM) to get money from her account? She could just deposit the $$ to her account here and pull them out of the ATM there for a fee? She would get a MUCH better rate directly through the bank.
