I wasn't allowed to say anything about this until now (signed a document and everything). But a newfound friend, fellow expat invited me to a taping of "The Market Kitchen Show" a few weeks ago. It airs tomorrow, 18 May 2009. I believe it's at 7:00pm on UKTV Food Channel. Sky 249; Virgin 260.
I, of course being a newbie, had never heard of it. But, it is produced by Gordon Ramsey's wife and by the same production company (and studio location) that produces "Gordon Ramsey's F Word".
I'll be the lady in the green sweater. They filmed me answering interview questions a few times, but I don't know how much will get into the final cut. It was great fun: a cafe style setting with waiters in a luscious food loft with wood floors and lots of colourful food everywhere. Only 18 of us in the "audience" whose job it was to look as though we were simply having a coffee out at a cafe.
We got to eat each of the dishes (I think there were 4 chefs in all). I also chatted with "Cake Boy", Aldo (such a flirt!) and Jun. As well as Amanda, the presenter who was on her first day back from maternity leave. (Baby's name is Willow.) And Matt, other presenter.
Gordon was to be filming later in the week and we never saw him (or his wife), but learned loads of behind the scenes stuff as we did several "retakes" and "read-throughs". Yes, the camera really does add 10 lbs. Flirted with the "waiters" who were actually staff. Four hours of Fun! Fun! Fun!
