Abercroft - if I may, I'll discuss in PM, and maybe send photos for an opinion.

Chary - AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DuckyFuzz - if you know a shop in the South East where I can hire a gothic/medieval green floor length wedding dress, please, let me know!!!

No problemo. Can I send you my real email address via a PM?

If I had known your style I would have sent you to: Up Tight Clothing Company.
Google them, you wil die!
But too late now. Maybe I can do something similar for you with the old dress or if you bought new fabric?

Hopefully abercroft will be able to help. It would be hard to not only hire a dress like you described, but even hired gowns are usually fitted in some way, aren't they? So that would still require some time, most likely, not to mention all the time involved with even looking for a new dress and finding one you like!  :-\\\\ I was going to suggest what Bookgrl said, you could put a panel in the back - one that laces up, which wouldn't look odd, especially on the style of dress you described. Plus you could add some lace or something to the bottom, couldn't you? Hopefully it will work out some how, some way. Fingers crossed for you! What a nightmare!

Maybe we could use the skirt as it is, add a waistband to make it longer.
Then I could make a corset to fit. They take very little fabric so you could splurge. I have bones and the other stuff they take. My senior project was a corset and I have made several since. They are great fun.
Let me know.

They have green...that was the first place I looked after my panic attack, and I am going there later.

Thanks for the help and support guys.  It really is appreciated.

Just another thought.."shakespearian dress hire" you might be able to hire something from a theatre hire shop...

These people provide for large productions, but a bot of begging might help them to len you something from their warehouse  ;)

How about angels? You could hire an ex film costume if you wanted, they have some gorgeous medieval stuff.

Prangsta may be able to help with a one off, they have an amazing travelling costume van that turns up at parties, your guests get in and they put you in costumes and make up for your party but I think they also do one off rentals

or this? (google)

I think I remember hearing that the BBC Costume Department might do Costume Hire…it might be worth calling them. I think also, some local theaters do costume hire. Call the Globe and see if they do it…good luck!
