Just Me... Griping.
« on: May 22, 2009, 10:28:53 AM »
At this very moment I'm in Brighton, in my pajamas, drinking my coffee and enjoying our second day of sun while my fiance's at work.

I leave Monday. I hate long distance relationships. I think they're dumb and no one should have ever invented them. I hate that I have to agonize over bank accounts, post-grad acceptance letters, refiling my daughter's custody agreement and an endless myriad of many other things just so I can sit on a couch with my love without thinking, "Oh, this is wonderful... too bad I'm leaving in two days."

Oh! And does anyone else here spend the entire day before leaving on the verge of tears? I wasn't a crier until I met my fiance. Now I blubber at every turn: if we're apart ("I just - *sniff* - miss you so much!"), or if we're together ("I'm just - *sniff* - gonna miss you so much!") Long distance relationships are cruel and unusual punishment, and I move for their immediate dismissal. But not retroactively, of course. That would be even worse.

Absolutely 100% this.  As soon as the last day dawned, I'd begin to leak.  It used to annoy the heck out of me, but what can you do?

I'm not a crier. But I started to get depressed at the halfway point. Two week visit, I was miserable at the end of week one because it was a downhill slide from there.

It's good for me to remember these things. Keeps me grateful  :)

The one good thing about long-distance relationships. Ok, and that thrill you get when you see each other again for the first time. And the fact that, even though you're about to land in their country in a couple of hours, you still spend your entire layover on the phone with your love. And how even snuggling in front of the tv is just exquisite, and you never ever notice their dirty socks (or, erm, in my case, *my* dirty socks).
