I know the tortilla chips are another thing, I'm not sure if there is plane old tortilla chips, he always buys Doritos for the guac and I just don't like that as much!

You can get big bags of tortilla chips at Costco.

Yay! so happy to hear about good ol' fashioned filter coffee. I think I too would die without it.  Ya, goods, I have made guac for my fiance and his friends and it is a HUGE hit!!!! He tries to make it all the time now without me and it is just not as good as mine! I know the tortilla chips are another thing, I'm not sure if there is plane old tortilla chips, he always buys Doritos for the guac and I just don't like that as much!  This is a very helpful thread. Thank you all!

Doritos makes a plain tortilla chip that's sold in England. I've never seen it in the US and there are plenty of other brands there to choose from. I preferred the Sainsbury's brand though. Marks and Spencers also does a plain one that's nice.

The only things I really bring back with me anymore are taco seasoning (although I'm out now and I'll probably just try to make my own), Triscuits, and Jif Peanut Butter. I've learned to cope without!

I've seen Jif! Only...I can't remember where. I just remember grabbing the jar, holding it up and trilling, in my best June Cleaver, "choosy mothers choose Jif!"

My husband thinks the entire inside of my brain is wallpapered in advertising slogans.

Are you talking about the "ready salted" doritos?  Those aren't plain tortilla chips, imo, although they're the most readily available substitute.  The only plain ones I've seen are the ones from Costco that Meg mentioned.

Really? They're plain tortilla chips to me. The M&S ones are a little thinner than the Doritos and I actually prefer them. They're also cheaper!

I personally was talking about plain as in not flavored with cheese or cool ranch, but still with salt.
Does anyone know if there is a Trader Joe's or equivalent out there? I can just google now, or try to. I really like organic peanut butter and other little things I can get at TJ's...

That's what I was talking about too - no flavor, just salt.

As far as I know, no TJ. There is a Whole Foods in London. Otherwise, you'll have to keep an eye out for local shops in your town.

Combos, hot fries, paydays candy bars. Oh, and butterfingers and laffy taffy. Is laffy taffy the super sticky taffy with P.B. in the middle? Then that's the one. If not, I can't remember the name.

Non-alcoholic apple cider that's powdered and in a sachet.  I make it and then splosh in a good glug of brandy and a few slices of fresh orange for a delightful hot toddy on a cold night.

sorry, just saw this! Plain tortilla chips to me are Tostitos, basically.  Which do have a bit of salt in them, but they're not covered in salt the way the Doritos ready salted chips are (I actually like the Doritos, they're just completely different than the plain tortilla chips I'm used to.)

big pretzels sold off those carts

triscuits of all sorts

wheat thins

Amy's - anything Amy's

morningstar veggie burgers

all different kinds of Chex so i can make probably TV trash

california pizza kitchen

chipotle

red beans and rice in a packet or box

sun chips or just a big ol' bag of chips and not a big ol' bag of chips and not a big ol' bag with a bunch of lunchbox sized packets of chips.

really good corn tortillas

sloppy joe mix

dunkin' donuts and seattle's best coffees

I've had Sun Chips here loads of times! The flavours are different, though - I can't remember exactly, but one of them is rosemary flavoured and the other one is sour cream and cracked black pepper or something like that. They are in the small bags, though.
