Foreign Earned Income Exclusion--Gross or Net?
« on: May 27, 2009, 04:13:30 PM »
Quick US tax question, since I can't remember how I did it last year.

Do you use your gross income or net income when figuring out your foreign earned income?

Just had a quick read through the 2555 instructions, but couldn't find this. May have missed it.

Thanks in advance!

Edited to Add: While I'm at it, the majority of my income from 2008 is from a full-time job which I left last summer. I then have some income from two different temp agencies towards the end of the year. Should I list my former employer on form 2555 line 6?

Gross.

You should list all the foreign employments.  Just do 1.  ABC Job 2.  Boring job.  3.  Temp agency.

Thank you!

Guess I'll just have to write really tiny to list them in the space provided.
